The D.O. has reported on another speech by H.E.

The president told thousands of Gambians at a victory celebration in Basse on Thursday, that he will never again appoint a secretary of state for Agriculture and has finally taken charge of the portfolio

Here is the link to the story:

By grabbing positions like this important one without the required good knowledge of it, Jammeh is seen abusing his presidential mandate. Where is he coming from with this idea? As Jammeh fired so many people for the same position at different and they have failed to deliver, he is due for a decent resignation. It means he is typically incompetent to recognise the right person for the right job. He is totally wrong to grab this important position when we need expert input most. This makes Jammeh enemy of progress. He is an obstacle by all account. He is killing the agricultural sector. As president, he is not required to make a champion farmer of himself. That is reserved for better candidates. He could have provided the enabling environment and let Gambian farmers compete, not for him to compete them, later to blame or insult them. That is just too wrong.

What happened to the Works and communication portfolio, Tourism portfolio etc. etc. What about the electricity supply?

He is merely pandering to the masses. I found it ironic that he is making these statements during the 'meet the farmers/people tour'.

"...Verily, in the remembrance of Allâh do hearts find rest..." Sura Al-Rad (Chapter 13, Verse 28)

...Gambian by birth, Muslim by the grace of Allah...
