Once this leadership issue has been resolved, i believe the initial euphoria and excitement that had awoken and energized the political animal in most Gambians before they went into hibernation following the disintegration of NADD, would be alive and kicking once more. And that will mean, back to headaches and sleepless nights for Jammeh and the APRC. Once again this is just my opinion.
I agree with Shaks’s suggestion above and I hope the key players for a united opposition take note of this.
Reading through the recent exchanges in this topic, I see all hope is not lost after all. It’s good to read the many constructive suggestions for a united opposition. |

Baldeh, thanks for the compliments.
However, I believe there is no need to re-invent the wheel, because STGDP started a great project and we should all rally behind them.
Please take note that Bantaba members are diverse, further more none authorize their e-mail address to be given to a third person for such purposes. What Bantaba Administration can do is to provide a platform just like the members only forum where interested parties can be added and only they will be able to read and exchange ideas.
Best Regards, Momodou

I am sorry guys but I do need to chip in here as you people look out for possible solutions. The statements above seem to suggest that there is a desire in the authors for a reconstituted NADD comprising of all opposition parties as it was before. I think that option needs ruling-out as it is not a feasible one. As I have said before, that is something that would never happen.
I am saying this not because I want to be negative. I am just being realistic and I know what I am talking about.
This is just an advice.
Thanks |

Is that the official UDP position, or your personal opinion Nyarikangbanna? |

I'm in agreement here. Furthermore, the situation on the ground today, will never allow for an affective opposition that can unseat the regime. It's time other options/ideas are put forth. Thoughts... |

And how much power is bestowed on Your Highness's hand, that decisions of possibilities and impossibilities lies squarely with you. Last time i bothered to checked, the name Nyarikangbanna was not on the list of decision makers of any opposition party in the Gambia. Since you have also claimed some time ago that your views does not represent that of any party, i take comfort that your above pronouncement is just another attention seeking blab. By the way can i have your autograph HRH Nyari of Disunity Fame? |

We will be very glad if you can furnish us with another alternative that will allow for an effective opposition that can unseat the regime. Do not wait for others to do that for you, while that idea is rotting in your brain cells. |

Nyari, you are taking a step back, if these ideas will not work what will work. We are brain storming and it will help further the discussion if you provide your solutions.
Aku Pickin, I will second Shaka and ask what other options/ideas are you talking about, please have your say? Dont be shy.
I think Shaka and DBaldeh's ideas are so good that if time permits they should expand on thier suggestions and publish their suggestions on the oniline papers. |

Ebou4th, he who fears failure shall never succeed. There is no easy solutions to our political and social problems.
While the NADD coalition failed at the leadership selection, it is undeniable that it has been the best ideas and one that threatened the administration the most in the history of the Gambia.
As we said here ealier, the NADD idea was one that came from a few Gambians. There is nothing that can prevent anyone from bringing another brilliant idea up for debates and collective acceptance like the NADD.
The NADD coalition for the record was accepted by all opposition supporters until their individual leaders failed to capture the leadership position. If it was good enough to be accepted, why can't we come back to the table and renegotiate the areas that draw some concerns.
I solidly think the NADD formular can be reviewed and the parties can go through primaries to select a leader. Whoever is selected by the electorates, he should lead the party. On the contrary, if people in other camps are affraid or skeptical from going through this democratic transparent process, then they have some personal agendas.
I think level headed patriotic supporters of both the UDP and NADD should force their leadership to revisit this idea of unity with a much more open mind for a redraw.
As I mentioned earlier another option is to select and independent non party affiliated, sound minded people to be selected and restart this process. This body must include all sectors of our society just like the constitutional amendment body we had in the Gambia that Jammeh and others betrayed.
This agenda we must pursue regardless of the skepticism and divisive tactics we will encounter. We must also know that a determined people cannot be distracted by a few pessimist who will always sit on the fence and be critical of what others do. A determined people cannot be intimidated by even the most oppressive or brutal of regimes.
We all owe Gambia moral obligation to try our utmost best to leave it better than we found it. Let's match forward and no turning back fellows.
Thoughts please..... |
