Desperate Wife Searches For Husband By Fabakary B. Ceesay
Isatou Jarju, a native of Casamance in Southern Senegal, said she has been desperately searching for her husband, who has not been seen and was believed to be in The Gambia, since 2006. Isatou told this reporter that she decided to come to The Gambia to look for her husband, who has been at large, since 2006. She said that her husband’s family in Casamance are very worried for not knowing anything about his fate. Her husband, she said, has been coming to The Gambia, but that he has never stayed too long during these visits. The distraught looking wife, who spoke to this reporter outside the premises of the Banjul Magistrates Court, on the judgment day of MFDC 9, on Wednesday, 16 April, said that she came to court to gather more information regarding the whereabouts of her husband. Isatou said that her coming to The Gambia to look for her husband was prompted by the news that some MFDC rebels, who went missing in The Gambia, were on trial; that their family encouraged her to come and enquire whether her husband was among the nine, but she discovered that that was not the case. She complained that she does not know how to search for her husband by talking to the proper authorities. Isatou said she wanted to visit the Mile Two Prison to enquire about her husband but was afraid to do so.
