DAVID COLLEY REINSTATED AS DG OF PRISONS
David Colley, a former director general of the Prison Services, who was relieved of his duties by the authorities has been reinstated as head of the Prison high command. Colley, who reported for work on Friday morning, was convicted and sentenced by the Banjul Magistrates Court presided over by Magistrate B.Y Camara.
The reinstatement of David Colley came on the heels of the death of the former directress general, Rose Riley Klu, who was known as Aunty Rose.

| Wonders shall never cease to amaze me. How could a convicted officer get reinstated to such a high post! am sure it can be as it in Yahya's Gambia. In the past convicted officers of the uniformed corps could not get back unless they get a clean record i mean criminal records are a bar to employment for law enforcement officers which include prisons officer more so the Director General . This proves that anything goes as far as The APRC administration goes. Some would say it is up to the President to select whom he likes to any position as vested in him by the constitution which has been so much abused now. What more do we expect from this blunder , was it necessary to take David to court one wonders. May be after all he was innocent of the crime of which was convicted, what is clear is that we now have a convict as Director General of Prisons , A record for that matter.Another line of though banal as it may sound is that perhaps David Colley's Marabout has the upper hand and thus this about turn. There is something wrong in Paradise ;surely.Just ask any police , soldier , fire officer or prisons officer and they would tell you tha one of the test they undergo before enlistment is the CRO hurdle; which entails background checks for any criminal records, a positive score for any candidate ensures a return ticket to where ever he/she hails from and the end of the job search in the security services. |

Kaanibaa, you are right. "In the kingdom of the blind the one eye man is the king". When a group of convicts are put together to share their stories, the battle becomes who is more convincing than the other for commiting their crimes.
Under Jammeh's watch, we cannot even tell who is rightly or wrongly convicted. They are all judged by the same system of Kangaroo justice and therefore no legimacy in their individual convictions or should I say sidelining.
So our constitution is not being used legitimately, instead the same military degree is being used to find the ones they want to be guilty and send them to prison.
Yankuba Touray and many others are example of such justice where they were found quilty of wrong doing under Jammeh's definition and then he turns right back to reinstate them.
Jammeh is not necessarily to blame but the people who allow themselves to be use like robots are solely responsible for their who mess. Guess what if you don't get hired you don't get fired. As simple as that...
