The Sedition trial of journalist Fatou Jaw Manneh, before Magistrate Buba Jawo at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, did not proceed on Monday, 14th April,. The Court adjourned the case after it realized that Lamin Jobarteh, the defense counsel, was ill and not present. The state counsel, Ellen Manga, applied for an adjournment. Magistrate Jawo must let go Fatou this time around. Justice delayed is justice denied. The State absolutely has no case against her. In the name of the principle ethical standards of justice an acused must be discharged where there are no evidence for wrong doing.
We are trying to reach Magistrate Jawo's desk to present a letter to him. We want to appeal to his conscience and moral judgement to release this sister. We can also deliver the letter to his residence with signatures of all the people who signed the petition. Please email us at editor@gainako.com or call me personally at 425-319-0884 and give us the info.
Also if anyone has his cell phone number please give it to us and we will fload it with text messages.
This is our opportunity to make sure Jawo does the right thing. He is so close to getting it right the last time. A little encouragement, he will strike the iron. We look forward to some info.
