The american case is a distraction from the real issue, which is how muslim women are treated in some countries.
I believe the minimum age for marriage should be 18 and the maximum can be any age aslong as it is of free will and sound mind.
PERSONALLY I think marriage stands the best chance when youa re from the same generation. SO if you think of your own age and plus or minus 15 years I think that is a fairly good rule of thumb.
Of course some people will be happy outside of this guide, but for the majority it is not far off. |

A legal age for marriage should be established.
The legal age of marriage should be when a person is allowed to make legally binding decisions.
Unfortunately, the laws of any country can't protect everyone at ALL times, but it should protect MOST people at all times.
Most minors can't and shouldn't make legally binding decisions, therefore, they shouldn't be allowed to marry!
The 30yr old idiot should be locked up, so he can be anally raped in prison. That way, he will get a feel of the atrocity he is committing! |

We have seen some young women maried to 90 year olds in the US. There is a current legal case before the US Supreme Court where the sons of the deceased "husband" think that their father was not capable of making informed decisions when he married the lady.
Unfortunately, the young lady is also dead. Her elder son of another man is dead and only one daughter alive is less than two but also of a different father. The question is how old is too old to get married and also how young is too yong to get married?
Kondorong, this might be the case you are talking about, isn't it?

on this issue, i have to look at two things, is this a legal marriage or is it a religious marriage. Is it done under cultural norms or the country norms. tribe versus state. it is for this reason that many issues are dealt with by elders of the religious groups. What is acceptable within this country. that is what is a question. Many times I have heard of girls being married when they are born/promised/understood but the ceremony takes place when she is 15 or older. Both families have agreements. |
