It appears that the Gambian Immigration Service is having great success in deporting illegal immigrants who have not obtained their alien registration card (price D1100 P.A. runs for a year from January)should other countries copy this model,UK & America for example? In other words if you have not paid and registered you are deported, no court hearing, no fuss, NO CARD, deported.

Good observation Toubab! Yes its working for Gambia because its a SOURCE OF REVENUE & VERY IMPORTANT IN ITS BUDGET.
However it is not over regulated like other adavnce countries; e.g UK & US. The aliens fee (D1,100) equates with the VISA VALIDATION & RENEWALS ON YOUR STAY (RESIDENCY) given periodically.
On the other hand if those countries (UK & US), want to ADOPT ANNUAL REGISTRATION CARD/I.D & have a good ROLL inorder to CONTROL IMMIGRANT NUMBERS there should be NEW CONSENSUS OR MORE FLEXIBILITY TO ALLOW THEM EXPLOIT OPORTUNITIES TO RESIDE, WORK, PAY TAX & NOT CRIMINILIZED AS FUGITIVES. For example in The Gambia most foriegners VIRTUALLY DOMINATE EVERY SECTOR OF TRADE. UK & US systems are more TAXING & LEGALITY VERY DEMANDING ON IMMIGRANTS.
Thanks for THE GOOD OBSERVATION! |

| Indeed I do ... unless corruption rears it's ugly head (there's always someone willing to bend the rules for money!) ... |

There are many major differences on immigration policies and border controls. CORRUPTION IS MORE CRUDE AND BORDERS MORE POROUS AT HOME THAN ABROAD.
We (AFRICANS) should took blame on our CORRUPT SYSTEMS & WEAK LEADERS for ALLOWING ITS RICH & BEAUTIFUL CONTINENT LOOTED & EXODUS FOR GREENER PASTURES ABROAD!
Why can't we REVOLUTIONISE LIKE NEW SUPER POWER CHINA(IN ALL FRONTS OF DEVELOPMENT, TECHNOLOGICALLY, POLITICALLY, GLOBALLY & ECONOMICALLY) AND STAY ON OUR CONTINENT AND MAKE IT RICHER |
