Mr jammeh, you are now cordially invited to join the International Bank of African Dictators. free deposits and withdrawals. no interest (from anyone!), unlimited overdraft courtesy of the state coffers. this fairground ride is well under way now.. hop on and watch the gambia slide into economic collapse and ruin while he joins "the club".. i was going to say..unbelievable, but it is the exact opposite. but , hey.....there is no oil????? |

Did you not read his speech recently about oil saying that it was because of the poor contract offers that Gambia could not undertake exploration but promised soon that the thick black liquid will soon be flowing like the Gambia River does.
We will be another Kwait very soon.

lol. konds. i mentioned last year that i met an oil engineer who told me that the oil is so far out and so deep that the sheer cost of a test platform negates the likely benefits of the find. who knows the truth.but i would have thought that , with such an apparent abundance as we are being told there is, shell and the like would have got their grubby mitts on it ages ago. so why have they not??? |

So you that is a good question.
The Chinese were the first to explore for oil in the 1960s then followed by the Canadians. Both studies showed that such deposits were ineconomical to pursue and so the idea was scrapped. Its like what economists call "ineconomical" in taxation. It follows that if the cost of collecting a tax far exceeds the revenue to be derived, then it should not be levied in the first place.
Well lets see if we can get a good deal this time. The 1960s were a diffrent time. |
