Gambia needs to look at different areas to attract different audience. Especially Senior Citizens. I was thinking about Mature Care. Health Tourism. I see this may have tremendous potential for Gambia. Senior Citizens seeking cheaper carer and housing would find Gambia excellent destination. Government and/or private sector would invest in private health care for this audience to come to Gambia.
There are many specialized tourims areas Fishing. Gambia river and atlantic ocean may attract Senior Citizens providing excellent fishing, or like disable care, drum, african dance. What else? What do you all think?

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

Superb idea,BUT,the medical infrastructure , personel, and equipment are not in place and such resourses are very costly,IF such resourses were in place to use them only for the care of the market that you envisage would not be right, people without money would be excluded and that means the AVERAGE Gambian citizen. |

You are right. This may not happen in short term. It requires planning. I see social services crisis in western world in near future. So the slogan is 'off shore senior citizen'. The health services have to be 'payers, senior citizen only'. You are right about medical infrastructure and personal. Key personal may still be from europe such doctors, specialized nurses, but a lots of personel can be from gambian people until gambia start producing doctors and nurses.
But the key is government. Would you imagine UK or Dutch government paying some dollars per the senior citizen who migrate to Gambia? I mean they are already unproductive, not a big consumer and to ease the presure on social and health services, western government would take some of the cost? |

They off-shore all the IT jobs to India and China. Now time to off-shore the senior citizens. So questions to ask?
What governments (Gambia and European Governments) in terms of funding? What to do with personell? What do Private Sector do, private healthcare, airline, tourism sector? I am thinking, western componies may invest.
So funding could be done by European Govenments by subsidy per senior citizen that goes to off-shore.
Gambian Government to provide land/infrastructure as lease-long term land. Also, they would open a nursing and senior citizen day care staff school.
Private sector from west+gambia invest in private health care facility and hotel.
Ordinary Gambian citizens work and small business to Senior citizens. |

As I said an excellent idea, BUT even if the infrastructure was in place you still have this unfortunate feeling that if something makes money someone is going to grab it and bleed it dry! so until attitudeschange its a non starter sorry,no big people will take the risk. |

The idea is great but itīs difficult to motivate old people with healthproblems to move anywhere even if covernments or companies would love that. Those seniors want to stick to the feeling of well known environment. But it could work for those ones allready living in Gambia. I work with senior homecare here and wouldnīt mind doing it in Gambia |
