This matter has been resolved, the son(and his wife)have lost their money, the father however has also lost a great deal for he will no longer be able to hold his head up high in the community, his credability has gone,he will never be trusted again, and alltogether he will wish he had never been so greedy or selfish. He may well consider moving away to somewhere where he is not known and try and hide his shame. He will be anything but happy and will be miserable for a very long time to come, what he did was disgraceful. The fact that the matter was not resolved by a court dos'nt matter. His actions are to be condemmed.

So, this discussion is closed and we all got to know each other a bit better.
I was happy to hear from Mr Concort, and i cannot but agree with him that we come from totally different backgrounds - which makes it sometimes difficult to react to each other's postings without harsh words. No hard feelings, i hope. At least Mansasula had a good time of it. Thanks Toubab1020, for putting in the link and for trying to keep the discussion reasonable!

An excellent posting on which to close this topic,I know that this incident will be widely talked about in Gambia and maybe it will make people less selfish and greedy in their lives,we can only hope.

modibo , in olden days the father would have excile himself or more worst drink poison . .but now he may feel uncomfortable for few days and then walk the streets of bakau banjul as if nothing happens. times have change ,greed has taken over decency .

If, as Kondorong says, a father is more than a 'Dad', I would expect a different behaviour from this father.

The position of the father is too strong in Gambia. If a father's decisions are immoral, illegal or destructive, it should be possible for his children to question them.

In this case it was the father who went to prison, but many fathers' greed for money, born out of ignorance about reality in Europe, sent more than one good Gambian son to prison.

That is so very true, Serenata - they serve in European prisons.
