Am I as a **** person missing something in your quote for the day, Dalton1? What's the thinking behind it? This was said when Malcolm X travelled to Selma in February 1965 so it's not an anniversay thing .... there's also no relevant voting rights anniversary today either (as far as I'm aware:!)so I'd be grateful if you could shed some light on this.

Come on MeMe if Dalton1 wants to make a quote of the day great, why should people assume that there is some hidden reason behind him making it?

The only reason I question it is because of his self-imposed censorship of the whole quote ..... ie his use of *s

Sadly, I couldn’t help but censor the word with ‘x’ and not ‘*’ as you had it above. For once I tumbled over this part, I sensed a different world. The man could have uttered that sentence truly without the word ‘xxxxx.’ To me, his heroism still stands and it doesn’t make him a perfect person. It’s just the nature of people, period! I should have censored it this way “xxxxx” [Gambian], but in all respect the man be respected for his quote without altering it. In fact, it is my firm belief and agreement with the above quote that prompted me to thread it.

Also, the two worlds; seen and unseen. Sometimes one world is far to be seen, far to be under eye, ear or foot, but it is a world in existence with its wars and culture of associations. It is unfortunate that the thread has to be threaded in places, even though it may have a far home. You are either part of these groups or you are soon alienated.

Like they normally say “watch before you leap” could be prevention better than cure. But if you have a trap, don’t follow innocent calves. The above quote from Malcolm is a trailblazer one. It’s a lot to learn from it. One doesn’t have to be in the then Selma gatherings, just be in some Selma. It’s a lot of down play unseen. But in the final end, it is the struggle that will be wounded, as continually seen.

But I thank you both for your enquiries and it gave me an opportunity to riddle more on it, knowing exactly what I am talking about without misunderstanding that quote one bit. I hope this quote will not be of any confusion to any one. If so, I am very grateful.

I now conclude my page as thus;

"I want Dr. King to know that I didn't come to Selma to make his job difficult. I really did come thinking I could make it easier. If the 'xxxxx' [Gambian] people realize what the alternative is, perhaps they will be more willing to hear Dr. King."Malcolm X, in a conversation with Mrs. Coretta Scott King.

Thanks for the further explanation, Dalton1, I think I see where you're coming from now.

Yes, Malcolm X was indeed a hero of his time and I'm sure much of what he spoke would still be valid today in lots of situations.

Thinking one( Meme), I wish i could dwell more to the plain text on this, but i am sure you are reading more than just the text above. May God sharpen your brain further.

It's a lot of traps out there; lot of hell fire; lot of un-brotherhood; lot of sour nonsense; lot of storms in tea cups; lot of fish nets with hookes pursuing the wrong fishes. But such people will finally crumble. If the fish they catch becomes poison for them, then they are doomed in perishment for eternity.

I say that's it. But i will end, May God never put you or your loved ones under the nets of such clever fools. If you are not sure what to say incase, say 'amen' while touching your forward to get the prayer answered by God, Almighty.

ah jaramah.

Toubab,

i like Meme for asking. see, one cannot expect that people always understand one' s thread. i understand her frustration from the first part, she might have been worried about the 'censorship' on a quote directed to the white people of selma then. But the quote in this respect has nothing to do with them, but the other of our kings' folks-Gambians.

as well, it should be ok to challenge any one constructively on what they post, otherwise it defeats the purpose of 'free speech' and 'dialogue'. please Meme, feel free at any time to criticize what i write and ask for explanation of anything till you are satisfied. i am the least of perfect made. and the smallest entity in the globe.

how would have this quote gained momentum or importance without your probe??

in fact, i will rejoin more to this topic, as the reasons for the quote intensify.

Toubab,

probably, what adds more the confussion is that the quote was threaded on 'Gambia's political forum', but for some reason the administrators of the forum by nature of their job transfered it to 'general forum.' if my memory serves me well, it was threaded under Gambia's political forum which if not where it was intended for..
