Through APRC.s era The Army could have gone a long way in self-sufficiency and cut down on government budgets drastically and became better equipe by now. One individual like Jammeh has set-up his own farm and a massive agricultural project that sponsor the so-called Jammeh foundation as millions of dalasis are being generated.
There should have been state farms for the army for feeding itself and contribute to the economy, army hospitals, army constructionn team and army road maintenance team etc etc etc.
There are alot that could be exploited and even set-up new army camps and de-militarised them from certain urban areas for better security.
Its part of modernisation and planning! |

It is not sustainable to see an army whose role appears to be seen as HIRED (PAID TO DO A JOB AS) MERCENARIES under the COMMANDER IN-CHEIF to be used to serve his political INTERESTS AND GOALS; CONSOLIDATES HIM IN POWER AT ALL TIMES and became ENTERTAINERS, dancers of "AFINJANG" and wore banners, APRC T-shirts and other promotional items promoting Jammeh and his party during elections.
To modernise them there should be RE-ORIENTATION PROGRAMMES, politics AND CIVIC EDUCATION PROGRAMMES to boost their morale and vision on IMPARTIALLITY (i.e INDEPENDENCE, FAIRNESS & JUSTICE), to be able to understand their OATH OF ALLEGIANCE and draw a line where there are CONFLICTS OF INTERESTS between THE COMMANDER IN-CHIEF' INTERESRTS, THE STATE INTERESTS, ITS CITIZENS' INTERESTS, THE CONSTITUTION and NATIONAL INTERESTS for PEACE, PROGRESS AND STABILITY. They should be PROFESSINAL SOLDIERS to SERVAE NATIONAL INTERESTS and see A BIGGER PICTURE FOR THE GAMBIA AOUR HOMELAND!
The Army is not a bunch of recruits for LOYALTY TO THE PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER IN-CHEIF at all times, no matter what?
During elections there should not be any polling booths at Army & Police Headquarters as they are threatened to exposed themselves through the BALLOT BOX on their support and loyalty with their families. They cannot produce bad results against the ruling party at ARMY POLLING STATIONS and therefore prejudice the overall results

What more re-orientation do you want. The letter R in APRC stands for that. Are you just disappointed by the R in the party as being ineffective? |
