Earlier this week I watched a tv programme about women in Afganistan. It was a deeply disturbing programme. I cried over it. The women were poor and powerless. The were so desperate that many of them attempted suicide by setting fire to themselves. I have never seen such a moving documentary and the Pakistani women journalist should be commended for filming and talking about such a difficult subject with compassion and sensitivity.
Did anyone else see it? If it is repeated it is a 'must see'.
Why alot of Western people are against Islam is because in their ignorance they think ALL muslim countries treat their women in this barbaric way. Do other Islamic countries condem afganistan and try to alter the conditions for women? Are there such pressure groups to influence extreme countries like this?
