I know that a medical research was done on Sorrel in the Gambia and found to have no nutritional value. This was published in research journals. It was not a back yard research.

Medical Research has been done in Gambia that is why some leading doctors advise their patients to drink sorrel instead of taking quinine for malaria. Let's put the record striaght Jamaica has had a University system for over 40 years. So what do you mean about back a yard research?

Well a reputable research organisation did this nearly 40 years ago in the Gambia. I believe GAFNA should have participated or some other NGO. I believe it was done somewhere in Kiang. It looks cloudy now but the result is that it has no nutritional value.

I have no intention of discrediting jamaican institutions.

Well not with vitamins. Its was tested for all the vitamins and it had none. Some things dont change in medicine. The basics are the same. Thats what called "prior art" in intellectual property.

Sorrel contains vitamin C so I presume the scientist in Gambia's research was floored!

Are you talking about the same sorrel? There are different kinds of it. Common sorrel looks like a spinach and the green leaves are used as a sallad. Onother is Jamaican Red Sorrel (grows also in Gambia) which is hibiscus sabdariffa. The red flowers of it are used for wonjo.
