As a keen follower with interest of both the Point & Foroyya Newspapers, i noticed some form of push and pull over who gave the best coverage-neutrality.

The debate sparked when Gambia's GPU branded the Point, as the best in term's coverage, and made a certain statement against foroyya.

Personally, i think both papers are on top with A+ rating. But the Gpu's stance should have been to pat all on their backs equally.

Where are we on this?

Foroyya replied, and the point took to the "bite" to take the flag by themselves, not realizing, it's a funny take.

I cannot help but laugh at it.

I dont think GPU should pat both of them on the back. There can only be one best and a runner-up.

Besides, Foroyya has not been able to come out as an "independent" paper. Its beginnings as a political paper still haunts it. I am sure you rememebered the legal problems they had some years back regarding its registration. It used to carry the Party symbols. Now that is not there i think.

i am sure you are following the debate-the "bite" and Sam.

Foroyya's news coverage during the election was very extensive. so was the Point. of course, the fact that Halifa and Sidia are among the brains behind it, all politicians, will make it look like a political paper. where as Uncle Pap Saine is only a journalist.

But lately, foroyya has been reporting Gambian news and tackled Jammeh right on his neck.

Yes they have improved their image from a Political paper to "private and Independent" paper. But in the eyes of many Gambians, it is seen as a political paper.

Yes, the least to say. Sajar(Observer) coordinates with Mam sait (Observer and APRC), Momodou Sanyang (GRTS) et cetera. They are a whole association.

Dalton,
In all democratic countries, political parties do own their newspapers. I think it is fair for the Gambian parties to own one too. Where is the Gambia Daily that is state owned?

Al-hassan,

Hope you do enjoy the observer. That's Jammeh's paper. enjoy the links before.

I follow your postings greatly. while amazed at your stance to defend reality, i am afraid that those that sympathise with jammeh, time and again, cannot truly see things.

Regards,
Yero.
