where is Kondorong? -"dabu-dolo kum fan"
This is one of his favorites. Thanks for the dedication Mawdo Momodou. In turn, i confer it to "kondorong" and our entire bantaba "admins", "contributors" and "readership", as shared dedication.
This is typical fulani, but Guinean. it succeeded in being Gambian, recently, with mamudou chorubal and his team preaching it countrywide.
nice one! i love it.
Happy extended celebration to all! |

This is culture to the core. "DABU DOLOKUM DABU NO TIDA." In the 1970s, when Gambia used to receive "Strange Farmers", villages were full of life especially after harvest. I have gone to most of these village shows and come home as white as ashes but happy that i was able to flex my muscles. I like the "RITI" too.
Part of my village was caled FUTA beacuse of the large concentration of the Fulani and their big Patron called Tumani was good at attracting all kinds of musicians from the region. He has now passed away and with his death, its as if time has stoppped.
Bring it on. |

Get also so more old feeling from them.a great time that has past the Bembeya Jazz Formed i think 1960/61 During the 1960s and '70s Guineas all-powerful president Sekou Toure created a system of state-sponsored national orchestras and instructed them to create modern interpretations of the country's folkloric music. Toure's policy of authenticité forced bands to meld traditional music with the Cuban styles and Congolese rumba popular at that time. Guitarists learned to echo the fluid melodies of the kora and balafon. Horn sections harmonized ancient airs. Rhythm sections learned how to make indigenous music danceable, arriving at the sound called Manding Swing. Singers affected the grand vocal dynamics of the griots. From the ranks of the National Orchestra came supergroups Keletigui Traore et ses Tambourinis and Bala et ses Balladins. But the great Bembeya Jazz National from northern Guinea proved the most popular of the new dance bands. Formed in the town of Beyla, far from Guinea's capital, Bembeya's success ultimately spread throughout the countries of the old Manding Empire--Mali, Guinea, Gambia and Senegal--legitimizing Toure's cultural renaissance. In 1973, after a long run of blockbuster concerts and recordings, Bembeya suffered the loss of its fabulously charismatic lead singer, Aboubacar Demba Camara in a car accident in Senegal. Down, but not out, Bembeya continued until 1991, largely relying on the strength of Sekou "Diamond Fingers" Diabate, one of African pop's most innovative guitar virtuosos. Today, a few Bembeya veterans carry on the roots pop tradition, notably singer Sekouba "Bambino" Diabate, who has become a major Guinean star, playing with his mostly acoustic ensemble, i like him cos reminds me of the band. i met them three time one in segeama one i kankan and lastly in Bingo club in Basse. But i still missd the originally tests from them, its simple not as thesame. I think Kon will share thesmae ideas with me
