Its Black History Month and in keeping with the spirits of the season, this avatar is all the more relevant.

Do you the story why the Fulani's dance is very slow, dragging their feet and swaying left and right?

This photograph was taken when he was in somber mood. It must have been around when he made the famous saying:

"..... I may not be with you when we reach the mountain top...."

He was reflecting on his survival and was not sure if he could live another day but was of the conviction that the people will see the light just like Moses did on the mountain top. It was after the famous speech : "I HAVE A DREAM"

Yes, sounds like that state of mind. Black history everywhere.

No. What about dragging the feet when the fiddles and flutes are in high gears? i would like to know.

The story goes that when the Devil(SAITAN) summoned all nations of the world to be taught how to dance, and the Fulani being always cautious to invitations, came in late and refused to enter the arena.

Upon being convinced that it was safe to enter, the Devil was already tired and could only drag his feet and sway left and right. The Fulani therefore only saw this part of the dance ritual and hence the slow fulani movements.

Its is said that the wild jumping of the Fulani of Futa Djallon with a typical rythm of "DABU DOLO KUM, DABU NO TIDA" was borrowed from their neighbors and not a typical Fulani dance which goes with grace( slowness).

The Susu on the other hand came when the Devil was in third gear whilst the Bukarabu was when the devil was in 4th gear. The mandinkas when when he was in 4TH gear with the SEWRUBA and LENG JENG.

The Moors came when he was just warming up and setting his rythm and went away whilstling, making sounds with their tongues and limping on one leg at a time. The devil was adjusting his legs and testing how far he could do his tricks. Thats why their dance looks like what it is.

have a good weekend

Hilarious!
"DABU DOLO KUM, DABU NO TIDA" -Kons

I can't help, but flatter into cracking laughters.

Nice wisdom to derive from it. It could truly mean being scared to enter that said "ben-dula".

It reminds of this joke also-believed to be a true story.

"Gholeh Gumanih"-a Pular wording meaning "the feet will thunder" as in running.

The Fula man was in hot soup, and was to be killed by his captives.

He humbly requested to entain them before they will kill him.

He stood them in linear rows, parallel to each other-dancing back and foward, while they clap with the slogan "Handeh gholeh gumanih"-meaning "Today, the feet will thunder"

Going at a little distance, he will come back to them. The next go, he increases it little by little, and before long "Gholeh Gumanih" in the bushes, leading to his escape. have a nice weekend!!

Thanks

It is crucial that we study the alliance that became of UDP/NRP/GPDP if that formula is to be considered for a better future for Gambians. It is quite obvious that the alliance was a loose one and was formed out of convenience and not base on principles and regulations. No one had responsibility for anything....

There are evidence showing all over the feathers of that alliance that it was a marriage out of frustration and defiance which cannot bring the changes we need.

In fact, the way they contested the Parliamentary elections shows serious characters of division within the ranks. The alliance never have a clear outline of their agendas except to get rid of Yahya Jammeh. If you disagree show us the proof and please don't give us the five point that were given overnight...

Most importantly, the leaders of UDP and NRP clearly put their personal agendas before Gambians. Everyone of those parties had a veto power to any agreement, why didn't they use it instead of walking away from the burning issues? If you cannot the stand the head of negotiation then probably politics is not the right field.

Secondly, It continues to hinder our ability to find a solution if we think that there is only one way to find a solution to our problem.

How about if we explore new breeds of leadership and fresh ideas from both within and outside? This nortion of only one thing will work is not healthy in our efforts to find a solution. "Where there is will, there is a way". Let us open up the debate and accept fresh minds and ideas from outside. May be brother Ebou4th and others can come up with a fresh formula and not be limited by only one option. Correct me if am wrong there must be more option that are legal...

It is brainstorming again and we have the potentials to generate fresh ideas. "Those who say it cannot be done should not stop others who wants to do it"
Thanks

My brother Nyaringkangbanna, am of the opinion that there are no strategic effects and a dynamic force for mass support if a party led alliance is created as there would be power struggles and conflicts of interests between other opposition parties like what recently transpired during 2006/2007 elections.

Furthermore about legallity or illegallity NADD legally existed as a strategic alliance with sound fundamental resolutions and strategies as defined under its MOU and to consolidate all the opposition parties under one umbrella only to suffer lots of setbacks and disintegration between the opposition parties.

What are NADDs flaws in your opinion as they appear not to be a party led alliance?

That is cool as it is your opinion which I respect. Please be advised that a NADD Plan 'B' is and will continue to be a matter for NADD.

Thanks.

I do not oppose unity but I oppose dumb union.
