Dalton, i did not see your piece earlier but you are spot on in terms of the Foni situation. Karamba, the plight of the people of foni is very sad indeed. How can one call them tribalist when former president Jawara enjoyed higer percentage votes in Foni than in predominantly mandinka areas, even though he is Mandinka. Ousainou Darboe also won a respectable number of votes in his first attempt in th 96 elections, so did aspiring opposition parliamentarians. My prayers to the people of Foni. |

I agree with Shaka completely and I do not believe people on this forum are blaming the people of Foni. It is infact an indisputable fact the people closest to Yahya Jammeh suffers the most in his hands. He fires and jail mostly people who agree to serve his governmet in the first place.
The people who pledge loyalty to him are very ones in Jail and some disappear possibly dead. I gave an example of kujabi his own uncle, How about Aziz Tamba, Landing Sanneh just to name a few?
The people of Foni are victims just like all others across the country. As Shaka said, the Jolas are the first people Yahya Jammeh insulted in the Gambia forgetting that he was brought up by those very people he is insulting.
Power and absolute power corrupts. Yahya is blinded by his so called heroism when actually he came to power by accident. So the writings are clearly written on the wall for anyone to see. This man will do anything to monopolize power in the name of national development.
Now the question is, do Gambian electorates have the mental toughness to understand how to nuetralize Jammeh's power by simply voting in a house of representatives who will not be rubber stamps? Do our people really understand the different functions of the executive and the Legislation? I think these are the key questions and, if majority of the electorates don't understand this power balance then am affraid there is nothing we can do to solve this problem at this time. God bless our nation |

Mawdo Demba,

Without media outlets, it is like the society is fed with sleeping tablets.
Your topics are always touching. Keep up the good illumination.

Now it is coming out clear that this is not a Jola affair neither a Foni affair. It is Jammeh/APRC against the rest of Gambia. The message now is to have all voters get the information about the battle of good over evil. People of Foni need salvation much as those being seen as Jola. If it was a Jola affair, the Kujabis and their likes would not suffer the way they continue to. Let all Gambia unite to expose the false powers. |

Dbaldeh , lets not miss the issue here. Lets not be too sentimental. The Kujabis were involve in crimes especially Abdoulie against the state. Azziz Tamba is the most lousy of them all, he has been terrorising people left , right and centre. His crime is open to most Gambians on the ground. I made my inquiries and learnt Tamba was indeed Jammeh's nephew and he was known to have taken cattle from some Fulas in wellingara, fuel from stations. It is his theft from the Fulas that exposed him. If Jammeh has not punished these relatives that would have compounded the problem. Some of the things Kujabi was doing is disgracful to be mentioned on this public forum.
Jammeh may be undesirable, but we should not lose sight of the fact that corruption or brutality of any kind or level must not be condoned.

Guys stop fooling yourselves about banking on credibility of opposition parties since their failures through the Presidential elections. The boycout and petitioning of the electoral systems and IEC;s impartiality and independence is the BEST STRATEGY aftermath of the Presidential elections. Thanks to all contributions.
