i would humblly like us to start choosing a gambian personality of the month for some good the person did. i do not yet ascribe to NADD but i choose HONORABLE HALIFA SALLAH FOR his new year message AS THE GAMBIAN OF THE MONTH OF JANUARY. i know some may disagree but i think the message is a reconcilliatory one. i reppeat i am not a member of nadd but the guy said some good things. who do you think should be your gambian of the month ?

I strongly oppose that nomination for it is lacking basis and very much disingenuous. You are the only one apart from the Ayatollah's talibeehs, who believes a single word he says. He is forced by circumstance to make that speech because of the threat to his parliamentary career, a threat he himself created. Tell him this; he would say no that is a service. If you believe him, then you must have believed Saddam Hussein when he introduced himself to his captors as the president of Iraq. The man is very deceptive, not straight speaking, arrogant, disrespectful to dissent, brainwashing and a complete twister. What a twat he is. Considering him for this title is itself a travesty and therefore should be withdrawn so that credibility can be accorded to the nomination and the naming process.
I nominate Pa Jallow, the current NIA boss for initiating an opening of a new page in the history of the NIA, by releasing all the detainees in its custody. Some might argue that the detainees were not supposed to be detained for that long without a trial but at least he was not the captor and therefore should be commended for securing the freedom of those who were wrongfully detained. Thanks

Nyari pa jallow is a good choice but considering the magnitude of halifa's message ,i beg to defer. i have not swallowed all that mr honorable sallah has said but there were some good things he said. i think you should trust him on some issues . |

Santafara, am sorry to say this but you are alone in this. No sober minded person is prepared to put a gloss on that man apart from his fanatical talibeehs, who are mostly naived and ill-educated.
Your project is a good one but you are squeesing credibility from it by putting a twat on the list of your nomination. I suggest you drop it for now and come up with a better candidate next time so that we can all give life to it. Who knows, it might have some bearing on the quality of governance in the Gambia in the near future.
Thanks

I second the Pa Jallow nomination purely base on the impact that his work will have on the human rights records of the government especially the arrest and detention of citizens without trial. I think, if given the opportunity, reforming the NIA would be the biggest turning point in our political history.
As for Halifa, I think he should be the politician of the decade instead of the month because of his level of influence on political discussions and level of awareness of the Gambian youth. The contribution of part of his merger salary towards local projects in his constituency is unheard of. How many of us can do that?????
You can hate him anyway you want, but no one absolutely can honestly dispute the fact that the way he precided over the idea of an opposition coalition is probably the most encouraging political solution we have ever had on the table.
One can only contribute their part and you cannot contribute for other narrow headed self centered individuals. You can bring all parties to the table to consent to an agreement, but you cannot avoid selfish individuals from nurturing their selfish agenda.
If one takes a poll of the impact Halifa has on the political education of our Gambian youths and illetrate, during the last two decades, one can give him the due respect.
Only Nyari-Kang (Two Voices) still harbors that hatred for a man like Halifa. You can say all you want, use any abjective describing him, but one thing is clear the man talk sense and don't wait to be told what to say or do. Your prejudice blinds you from seing anything positive this man does. What a klan you portray yourself to be.
You will never go unchallenge on this forum or anywhere you show up your hatred agenda. God bless you... |

dbaldeh. halifa has contributed a lot to gambian politics but it was under the banner of pdois. the same things that halifa is doing is what the rest of pdois are doing ,for instance the sub-distribution of their salaries. i withness mr jatta doing just that in his constituency in wulli. i was brought up by a politician and i know mr jatta very well. i commend pdois for that jesture. we could say there were many good politicians some even laid down their lifes to have there say ,so for now let us choice the man of the month.

You are right Santanfara, Sedia, Sam Sarr, Anty Amie as we call her are all exemplary citizens. The PDOIS team are second to none regardless of whether they ever win an election or not. There are so many ways one can be of service to your nation without holding public office. There are off course other exemplary citizens as well.
They can be rightly discribed as a government out of office. They operate their own schools to educate the kids and the level of maturity those kids desplay is the kind of foundation we need to uplift our society. At their center there is 24hrs service to citizens who need help. All these things were done with merger resources. That is why I happen to believe that they in fact may be better service to the nation outside of immature political spectrum looming in our nation.
Back to your nomination, the person with the most impact should be selected on a wider horizon. We need to look at every sector of society national and international and make the decision. It is prudent to note that this exercise is neither scientific or official. It is only for our own purpose to give credit on this forum.
However, we must be willing to call to attention anybody who has a hidden hatred agenda in this kind of exercise. Hatred cannot be tolerated in any sector of our society regardless of where we are. Ignorance and selfishness is what put Africa in its sorry state of despair. Anyone who continues to nurture such should be exposed to the masses. I have taken personal responsibility to confront anyone in this forum or anywhere with such ideas. I intend to do it in the battle of ideas and debates with open mindedness. So bring them on if anyone think different thus the purpose of Bantaba... God bless you all.. |
