Now that NAWEC has changed hands, the first project of the new Management is a 30% increase in utility bills thanks to high cost of fuel and lubricants.

With no salary increase for poor civil servants, a 30% raise in utility bills is a nail in the coffin.

We hope that we will now have 24hours electricity.

An average elecetricity bill for a household with only six hours a day of electricity will coneveniently be at D700.00 per month. That is if you do not have an electric iron, electric cooker or a fancy freezer. Inaddition you must turn off all lights and all appliances for 18 hours of the day. 24 hours electricty will cost atleast D5000.00 per month.

SIS, You can't be more right sis. If they can provide quality supply, then we should not expect them to operate at a loss. Here in the UK if am not mistaken with all the massive profits the Elect and Gas companies make, they have increased both twice or so this year alone.

KONDS, if you have restrcited your worrries on only the lack of salary increment to cater for the increased in utility bills. But bringing in a figure without showing the workings clouds my mind. If you have a formula to arrive at the D700 bill, you could have done us the favour to give or lend us the formula so that we too can advise our own back home as how to use the elct wisely.

Evidently some people do just want to attack the Jammeh regime. But if the price of gas sky rockets every where else, we are bound to follow. Gambia is a small country with very many mentally advance people. So the more people develops the more energy is needed and consumed. The govīt is doing all possible to catch up with the needs of the people. Yes, electricity is expensive but at least its available some times and will be available all the time soon. Development do not come all of a sudden but its a gradual matter. Lets be sure that with the tact the present govīt is going, we will be there soon.

It is the mark of intelligence to entertain an idea without accepting it.

Lets be serious here. Its ok to increase prices and stay float. But 30% is just too harsh a raise. Fuel prices did not increase by 30%.

Madiba

My electricity bill is 500.00 minimum a month and i ddont have power for more than 6 hours a day. a 30% increasse in rates takes me to D650.00 convenienetly. I dont have a freezer, or an electric iron or electric cooker. With 24 hours electricty my bill will coneveniently be at D1950.00.

Given that the electric iron and cooker use enegery ten times an electric bulb, D5000.00 is a conservative figure.

Breadman

Tell the president to tell us where our crude oil from Nigeria is heading to. Gambians need to know. We are getting sudsidised oil yet our prices are still through the roof. Think about it. Unfortunately, i dont see the Presidency but the state. I careless who is president so long as that person is responsive to the masses.

Even if you are president, i careless as long as you serve the people. My candidate is the one who is open enough to face the country.
