See for yourself Jammeh on allafrica.com October 15 posts being equated to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and also prophet. That is exactly what a sycophant propaganda source crowned Jammeh on this occasion of his false innauguration. When will Gambians stop pulling the strings of others. Typical of Gambians again. By the time Jammeh's sycophants rest, they will settle him on top the hot rocks of hell on earth.

This is another breed of Cat and not a German Shepherd.
Maybe I should hold up a card for the worse than senseless things, and on the card should be printed one word: LAUGH! Yes, laughing is one level of spontaneous human reaction ( crying is another) and we can’t be crying with joy all the time can we? So Am I Free to play my own solo or must we always follow that missionary po-si-tion?
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-51,GGLJ:en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=Jammeh+%26+Kwame+Nkrumah&spell=1
( For me the story was “cherche la Femme” – that’s why I’m in Sweden and I hope that Gambiebev’s marital errands in the Gambia are of a different nature from my own rambling ( as Robert Johnson King of the Mississippi ( not Niger) Delta BLUES sings, after such ramblin on his mind he’s got to “dust his broom “ http://www.deltahaze.com/johnson/lyrics.html and I hope she said that Bedtime prayer last night, as she promised ( after putting the star of Bethlehem on top of her Christmas tree) a proposition entirely different from my own errant existential errands whenever I may foray here or there, quite freely and at my own leisure without any complaints or dis-appointments from sour hussies or from prim and proper school mistresses who should know what’s bigger and better than their own magazine grubby hubby; and NB: I am not he and don’t intend to be.)
I am free to muse and so are you to discard or peruse and the grammar ? WHO can take that away ?– “No they can’t take that away, from me “ (Satchmo and Ella)
Dr.Yahya Jammeh being equated with Dr. Kwame Nkrumah?
I saw Soyinka’s “Kongi’s Harvest” in 1970, performed in Accra, by the Arts Council of Ghana, with Kongi given contextualisation and complete with Maoist tunic of the sort our local Osagefo specialist the younger edition Professor Arthur Abrahams the respected, used to wear in those days ( as Mr Ibou Janneh himself might recall – receiving all that Chinese beer from the exiled Osagefo, all the way from Conakry…… there’s a great deal of difference between the two ( Yahya and Osagefo) separated by so much time and water, so much Kanilai wine and so much Chinese beer that has flowed under the bridge since that bloody 1966 coup that toppled the Osagefo…..
Dr. Yahya Jammeh being equated with Dr. Kwame Nkrumah?
I look forward to the time when our man in Kanilai will say, as Hon. David Ben-Gurion the then prime minister of Israel said: “ I do not give interviews to journalists (a) because I am a journalist myself and whatever I say to the public I do so in my own way, and ( b) the first reason is sufficient.”
He also once said “ I write for the Press myself – Not for financial reasons, but to be sure I am quoted correctly”
But now it’s Alhaji Jammeh that is under the microscope and it seems that somehow, redeemer Karamba has it in for him. I’ve searched for the source of that comparison but cannot find it - We could compare them all the way down the line, their similarities starting with the fact that they both come from minority ethnic groups, and the main point of contact being that Dr. Nkrumah would have been an honoured guest at the AU in Banjul earlier this year, if all had gone according to plan……but
as the saying goes “a prophet has no honour in his own country”, which cannot be said of president Jammeh for he is much honoured in the Gambia - although as we see, he is indeed much – maybe more honoured in Iran……. Which is not exactly his Medina.
But it is likely that if there is ever a bloodless or toothless coup, say in about 30 years time – long after the regime change in Qom and Tehran, he should most probably find solace in Bamako – if they would have him there then. But you know that we would all prefer a bloodless and peaceful re-election……
Even malapropist Muslims are not misled by Khalil Gibran’s aphorisms of that title ( “The Prophet”) and continue to maintain their uncanny sense of direction ( the qibla ) being generally wary of messing around with the word “Prophet” even when such a word is used in a non-spiritual and political sense devoid of both vision and revelation. They will also be the first to tell you that Prophet Muhammad, Salallahu alaihi wa salaam is the last prophet and even Alhaji Jammeh himself will be quick to acknowledge that there ain’t no other coming after him ( Rasulullah, salallahu alaihi wa salaam) and therefore to avoid any confusion/ misunderstanding of those who would like to elevate him to the apex ( as in that personality cult of e.g. the Osagefo – and even there such a comparison is ridiculous - so if it has ever been made, is the kind of over-rating/ hyperbole that must be relegated to the dustbin, without delay, pomp or ceremony. In ascertaining where the dustbin is, you measure the distance between the “top hot rocks – with Ate by his side come hot from hell - on earth” and the bottomless pit of the everlasting fire ( more everlasting than any presidency).
This is powerful Islamic imaging….. and entirely subliminal to the suspicious (and receptively suggestible).
Satire (of the type which escapes censorship is understandable even in a country with a level of literacy which equips you to count your marbles at election time. Irony too must not be lost on our incumbents, even steeped as they are in the oral culture of the traditional Griots’ praise-singing of rich & outstanding election winners and more successful politicians, especially when they are paid handsomely to sing any senor el presidente’s praises so sonorously……Any el preisdente if modest too, will be the first to bow and say that “ All praise belongs to Allah subhan t’ala “
Leon Trotsky was known variously as “the prophet armed”, “the prophet unarmed” and “the prophet outcast” Hopefully, the more ideologically seasoned Bantabahs would like to seriously compare and contrast Messers Jammeh and Nkrumah, for us, without being unfair to either.
The latest fair assessment of Kwame Nkrumah and his relevance to us today, we heard the very able Joe Frans deliver at Ghana’s independence celebration last year, in Stockholm. If I find it, I won’t hesitate to post that link for the benefit of those who were not there.

An error is best corrected when we are able to detect the source of error. I'm not sure if this drive to inflate the growing ego of President His Excellency Dr, Retired Captain, General and Lieutenant, Saviour, King, Emperor. I am not sure if this is a way of survival for those who choose to sing the praises. Could it also be a piece of music to amuse a coup making soldier who is still not sure if he is accepted as president. There is little to doubt that Yahya Jammeh likes being called names that project him to be seen kissing the illuminating moon above the clouds. If so, those who shower him with praises will enjoy the glory of his Kanilai kingdom that is given here on earth and not in heaven. For a man occupying the highest seat of presidency to be this addicted to praises is serious to cause worry. Something is wrong that someone needs sorting out. Twelve to 13 years is no small time one person is spared all the chance to play about. Yahya Jammeh has since his coup in July 1994 failed to settle for serious work. He is busy about image building and nothing better. In the process, he is now rapidly getting more tarnished than ever before.

Idries Shah says to resist the impulse to teach….
You know the Gambia and the mechanisms of the Gambia very well . But depending on how long you have been away or out - perhaps less so than those who are there and still have the natural cunning of the street wise.....
If you have direct channels to him ( if I wanted to create such a channel or channels I could and would and from wherever you are you could too) so why not communicate with him directly? I can give you a very gross example - there was something very simple that once upon a time Dr. AbdalQadir al-Murabitun was not aware of - that even an ignoramus like me- was aware of and had been aware of for years. You may ask, how is that possible? He said that he had not been told - or something like that. So out of real concern for the people of the Gambia and for Mr. Jammeh himself who I am sure would be inclined to listen to good - and well meant advice you should be able to talk to him, brother to brother. You know how presidents ( and Kings) are or can be. You can’t start scolding him from the public pulpit of Bantaba in Cyberspace. You could approach him the way that the Prophet Nathan approached King David – and get him to see. It would be easier to get him to see once he knows that you are not against him and do not want to give his head to Salome – like the head of John the Baptist……
Once he is confident that you are friend and not a foe and you have his ear, you can pour in the good advice……… you could even become an adviser or a paid consultant.
This is all a little vague , but not naïve.
There’s nothing that you cannot do – if you want to - you can even tell me what Pa Kabbah had for breakfast – if you really want to…… believe me.
About getting his ear, one little problem could be that he could be guarded very jealously by those around him……….Ahmadinejad for example has his right ear for sure - he does the Azan in Tehran and it’s heard in Banjul…..but you are even closer…… to Mr. Kennedy….. and that could make him stiffen his back like a cat…. He who suspecteth something American. Let’s hope he has not started the Iranian terminology of big and little Shaitan…..

Ordinary people hold the fallacious tendency of calling the politically-charged, names to inflate their ego. If the praised desist from their passion for title, they are better off. They don't most of the time. If I was king, the first of my wars would be waged against the temptation of flattery. It is serious when people could not have themselves detached from title, possession, skill, knowledge, fame, defame, jealousy, love, hate, enjoyment etc. That is the task many of us struggle our whole life and eventually stand defeated. |

This is nothing new. Mr Sallah then Principal of Armitage who was a nominate MP was the praise singer for Jawra in 1965.
By 1992, EK Sarr took over when he said the following in parliament.
"For every nation, God sent a prophet. To the people of Israel he sent Moses and to gambia he sent Jawara" I was in parliament when these words were being uttered. He then became Parliamentary secretary at Education.
Sycophancy is a fabric of african politics for generations. Thats how kings were praised. FULANG DANG NA, FAA DING DANG NAA. Perhaps a therapy for the privildege. |

It is that culture of deception and flattery we need to undo. It was not proper that E K Sarr equated Jawara to any prophet. So also it is not proper for any of Jammeh's praise-singers equating him to prophets. They are free to call him Muhammed Ali as a measure of his muscle power or Goliath, you name it. Most of this has to do with the lack of respect Jammeh has for religion, especially Islam. He hides behind Islam to score his economic and political goals. Do you doubt this ? |

Kondorong,
Though Karl Marx (1818-1883) doubted, he believed too. He had no doubt that Capitalism existed. Because of the objective realities of capitalism, it cost Karl Marx all his intellectual strength trying to expose and to have capitalism defeated. He recognised the power struggle required to emancipate the expropriated masses. Where there is injustice, there is bound to be conflict. According Karl Marx, overthrowing the exploiter is not an end itself. New conditions always arise and people will continue to fight new heights of injustice. But the oppressor feels that the struggle ends when he/she/they get to the top. They fight back others who challenge their injustice. Like, Jammeh overthrew Jawara and now legislates his act of treason had Jawara foiled the July 1994 coup. Do you now see where the conflict arises ? In short, Karl Marx would have warned Jammeh that political power evolves in a spiral motion. In a spin of contradictions, conflicts, and perpetual struggle. Jammeh gets it wrong by wanting to use his five fingers to arrest the force of people's power to emancipate themselves.
