Well it looks like every November, the civil service goes through a ritual and this month is no exception. November is the season of dismissal. It just started and the numbers are on the rise.
I don't want to disturb anyone's cultural rituals , but I may ask if this ritual really improves the performance of Gambian civil services. But maybe this is not it's purpose. Maybe it is a way to give everybody a chance, and I can imagine there is a long queue....
This is what I mean. How can anybody get experienced in a job if he/she is sacked only a few months after the start? Staying too long in a position is not good, but hire-and-fire creates nothing but chaos.
