Well it looks like every November, the civil service goes through a ritual and this month is no exception. November is the season of dismissal. It just started and the numbers are on the rise.

Is it really always like this in November, or only after elections?

I don't want to disturb anyone's cultural rituals , but I may ask if this ritual really improves the performance of Gambian civil services. But maybe this is not it's purpose. Maybe it is a way to give everybody a chance, and I can imagine there is a long queue....

There should be chance for those who burnt the midnight candle. People are hired to do a job and not for them to be sacked and give chance to others.

This is what I mean. How can anybody get experienced in a job if he/she is sacked only a few months after the start? Staying too long in a position is not good, but hire-and-fire creates nothing but chaos.
