YOU HAVE CONTRIBUTED A LOT TO THE FORUM ON GAMBIAN POLITICS AND GENUINELY I APPLAUD YOU. I AM DEEPLY SORRY IF MY TOPIC WHICH I NEEDN'T MENTION CAUSE YOU ANY REGRETS. LIFE IS ALWAYS A LEARNING CURVE AND SOME TIME ONE HESITATES BUT YOU MAY BE RIGHT ALL ALONG. OUR NOBLE PROPHET IN ISLAM SAID ''EXERCISE EASE WHEN THAT IS APPROPRIATE AND EXERCISE HARSHNESS IF THAT IS MORE APPROPRIATE.'' HUMAN BEINGS ALWAYS BELIEVE THAT THEY KNOW THE ANSWERS BUT WE ARE ALWAYS FIGHTING ENDLESSLY FOR OUR INDIVIDUALISTIC SURVIVAL .
YOUR PUTTING DOWN OF BROTHER MALCOLM SYMBOL AS CAUSE ME SADDNESS ,IN THAT MALCOLM WAS A SYMBOL MANLINESS AND SACRIFICE. I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE YOU TO EXPLAIN WHY YOU PUT DOWN MALCOLM'S IMAGE? YOU HAVE THE RIGHT NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION. I AM JUST NOT HAPPY THAT YOU DID IT TO EXTEND A HAND OF RECONCILIATION. MALCOLM WAS A FATHER,A HUSBAND, PREACHER, A FRIEND TO MANY AND MORE SO SIGN OF HOPE. BROTHER I HAVE SEEN A BLIND MAN IN CANADA WHO EMBRACE ISLAM BECAUSE OF READING ABOUT BROTHER MALCOLM'S LIFE. HOW GOOD CAN ONE'S LIFE BE SO FRUITFUL THAT EVEN IN YOUR DEATH ,ALLAH HELP TO GUIDE PEOPLE THROUGH INTO THE RELIGION OF TRUTH. THAT'S WHY ALLAH STATE'S IN NOBLE QU-RAN ''THAT DO NOT THINK THAT THOSE WHO DIED ON THE PART PART ON ALLAH ARE DEAD ,NO THEY ARE ALIVE''. MAY ALLAH REST HIS SOUL IN ETERNAL PEACE. AMEN.I ENJOY ALL PEOM'S YOU HAVE POSTED ON THE FORUM ,MAY ALLAH GUIDE YOU AND US ALL IN THE RIGHT PART.MY OPINION IS MINE AND WHAT I INTEND TO DO IS ALSO MY RESPONSIBILITY. For brother Malcolm, we posted on him in the old forum, as well you can educate the forum more about him.
I have personal love for the guy, and that cannot be dissolved. I've always been a believer of his doctrines/political philosophy.
It happened that i met two American activists-Brothers Musaware and Dr. Pinkney, who all happened to withness his days, and can tell you from a horses' mouth rather, and not from the book says-as associates of a solid movement of social justice redemption.
I know that the guy realized light, a pickup from the killer streets of America, where drugs, jail, women, gun violence, racism etc... ( (read about Harlem) attacked youths like him. His realization of true islam, leading to his parting with the Nation of Islam, succeeded in giving a chance to those that feared his doctrines to eliminate him, by assaination.According to a reliable source, he did invite his friend, Dr. King to Islam at some point.
Also, check mail, private mail sent to you . Kindly heed to demands from contributors. Also, our discussion fits under "World politics", and hopefully a forum admin will move it.

By Malcolm X "When a person places the proper value on freedom, there is nothing under the sun that he will not do to acquire that freedom. Whenever you hear a man saying he wants freedom, but in the next breath he is going to tell you what he won't do to get it, or what he doesn't believe in doing in order to get it, he doesn't believe in freedom. A man who believes in freedom will do anything under the sun to acquire . . . or preserve his freedom."

I have not heard any of you who admare Malcom X talk about uncle Sam of Ghana who started all before even Marcus Garvy. You people seem to admare americans and forget your own.Uncle Sam of Ghana was the man who started the Black star lines when he started selling Cocoa to the US and in turn bringing back Africans who wanted to return home from America. Ask the americans why there is nothing about him. What a sad story. To the MalcomXfans I say I am sorry if you feel offended. |

Alhasan, we would like to know more about uncle sam. We want to honor our great men and women so please tell us more about uncle sam. Can you give us some resources where we can get more information and learn more about him. Most of us speak more about Malcolm, Dr. King etc because we know more about them and have access to their history at our finger tips.
SANTANFARA, please when you post to the forum try not to capitalize all your writing. It is difficult to read and it literally means you are raising your voice loud or shouting so to say. You can certainly write the way you want, but am sure you want us to read your contributions correct? Just an appeal. |

Alhasan i disagree with your assertion that it was uncle sam who started the black star line. the black star on ghana national flag was the symbol created by marcus. i personally have nothing against any great black man .some of the people i mension as black libarators were not all american ,but the black american's did a lot for there race and that we should not underestimate.the black star line i believe was started by marcus ,but i don't know were you get your facts from.Brother dalton, malcolm would have been proud of you. make dua that some his family will come back to islam. i have a book about the founding members of pan-africanism and i am sorry uncle was not mension. |

Guys,
Alhassan get some good points. But Sam is one of those whose names are not out-that famous, unfortunately. I don't know much about the guy, honestly.
I 've always said, it is a big mistake to think everyone knows, be it little or big.
Under the thread, "Ken Saro wiwa", you see how Steve Biko's daughter complained bitterly about the attitude of south Africans towards her late father.
Alhassan, the floor is all yours to tell us about the guy. I know for certain Nkrumah was educated in the streets of Harlem, during the Garvy movement. Thanks for your rejoinder, and i am sure to google his name to add to my long list of great Africans. |

Alhassan, sorry to say I also disagree that Uncle Sam of Ghana started Black Star Line. I believe that Marcus Garvey established the Black Star Line in 1919 which was to facilitate emigration of black Americans who wanted to return to the mother land. Along with other UNIA members, he was indicted for alleged mail fraud in 1922 after an FBI investigation was brought against him for selling stock in the Black Star Line enterprise. To this day efforts continue on the part of his supporters to exonerate him from these charges.I would be very interested to read about Uncle Sam of Ghana. Thanks for giving me reason to look into the subject further today where I learn the notorious J.Edgar Hoover was involved in the FBI investigations that gave Marcus Garvey a five year sentence by placing his agents close. Hoover also used the infiltration of his agents to gather information against other leaders i.e. Martin Luther King - Malcolm X & Black Panther Party.

alhassan, good point raised, i knew about marcus garvey but not Uncle Sam, are the books or reading materials about this. Any black business person of that area should be acknowledged and talked about. this is a good start. DALTON1, admire your stance. |
