According to this article:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061031/ap_on_re_as/china_wooing_africa

"Among the countries invited to the summit are Burkina Faso, Swaziland, Malawi, Gambia, Sao Tome and Principe, which have diplomatic relations with Taiwan, the democratic island that China claims as its own. The two have engaged in a diplomatic tug of war, offering inducements to nations to cut diplomatic ties with the other."

Is the President going to attend? I would prefer closer relations with China than Taiwan. Any thoughts on this?

Justice must be served as impunity brings more repression and corruption!

definately better to have relations with china than taiwan.
fact 1
AFRICAN UNION DOES NOT RECOGNISE TAIWAN AS A COUNTRY, IT ONLY RECOGNISED MAINLAIN CHINA, think about that if you want to do business.
Taiwan it seems to me is buying Gambia, food, they bring rice, are making contributions to roads,
when china is helping the countries around Gambia, taiwan will hold power and influence in Gambia watch the sparks fly, they will control tariffs for transport
