It is indeed sad. He couldn't bring himself to tell his readers where he got the story from. Instead he made up a fictitious name and claimed to get the info from that individual. I guess giving credit to the bantaba is asking to much from him. |

After i compared the two stories, one can honestly see the linkage between the two. It sounds right only to give a credit where a credit is due. I wouldn't have doubted that you forwarded the piece you posted here to Freedom, when i compared the two. Now that you posted this way, it is certain that you didn't forward it there. one cannot rule out the piece being lifted from this forum. And Pa Nderry and his webmaster can determine, in the spirit of truth, and integritty, who might have stolen your ideas to make it look like his. I know for certain that whoever read other Gambian forums also read this forum, including Pa nderry, and his webmaster. If i were you, i will demand an explanation from Pa Nderry, and see what his tracing of the piece will be. You got a point to fight!!! Doing this is not pettiness. In a forum where people use pen names, you could be debating with an individual, while gossipping him. Demand for your right, and honestly you are the winner of this case.

Panderry isn't going to listen to my complaints. It is an ego thing with him...me, myself and I...it is all about how big and bad he is. That is all there is to his brand of "journalism". See how I put journalism in quotation marks. That is how much I think of him. |

also, i smelt the rat that the elder might have some beef to share with Nderry. just a thought.
I must be honest, i like his determination to inform Gambians. I think he can be encouraged for the better in his efforts. |

| Journalism is a very noble profession and I would advise him to study like our other notable brothers like Dr. Ebrima Ceesay, Baba Galleh, Cherno and others. He needs to do proper research before publishing and has to acknowledge when he publishes incorrect information. |

I don't have a problem with informing Gambians or anyone for that matter. What I have a problem with is the tabloid nature he goes about doing it. I have seen him copy verbatim emails sent to the Gambia-l without asking the permission of those who wrote it on the L.
Like Momodou inmitated above, he doesn't research his stories and due diligence is not exercised on his part. There is a difference between spreading rumors and informing your country men. Take this story for instance.

Someone sent him a rumor and he publish it as breaking news. He didn't work any sources to check the veracity of the claim. In Panderry's world, that is too much to ask.

You should comeup with a blog , just as your token of contribution, bringing about a positive change. More blocks, more sites-will enhance great awareness and flow of information.
I tell you this: Gambians need a lot of help. Those that know should not make the mistake to think that everyone knows. Otherwise, how come Gambians voted Jammeh in.
Sometimes people who send pieces/tips anonymous complicate situations. In any way, one must establish a trusworthy source. |

Hi Bronx you raised a good point. That's why if you are posting info which you regard as your intellectual property then you should
Copyright it. Then when people like Pa Nderry copy your info they have to cite you by international copyright laws.

Thanx for the info Dalton nevertheless the freedom newspaper has been castigated for inaccurate report for as long as it has been in cyberspace. This $45 is properly the first contribution to the newspaper's finances, which it is probably very grateful for. But if the freedom newspaper wants to attract big bucks then it should organise itself ainto a professionally run newspaper with accurate reporting, and proper citations to prevent any future litigation claims.
