I put a user password on my little girl's computer bucause some of her friends used to mess it up. Now for some reason she can't gain access because the error message is an invalid password. I have not forgotton the password because I had it down on paper. We can still gain access without the password but it won't let me connect it to the wireless network in the house because the administrator's right is lost.
Now, I kindly want some IT assistance to retrieve that password please. Any one with some tips would be tremendously appreciated. Cheers.
Taalibeh, I will like to help, but I am kind of confused with how you frame the issue. So if you could please answer the following questions, we may have a clear view of what you are trying to accomplish:
1. Can your daughter log into the computer using her username and password? 2. Who has administrative rights to the computer? ( because admin rights will enable you to go back and validate your daughters password and give her user elevated rights to the system) 3. What user rights did you grant to the user you created for your daughter? (The user you created for your daughter might not have sufficient rights to set up or resolve network connection issues) My hunch is that if you elevate the user rights of your daughter to at least a power user, the network issue will get resolve. You could give her administrative rights as well, but that is not a good idea, taking into consideration that her friends could inadvertently wretch much havoc with additional power.
I hope this helps. However feel free to drop a line if you have further questions.
