I still haven’t read the Morning papers, only zapped through.

On the way to work this morning - the morning after, I met Ray, a cellist, who told me that when Sweden entered the EU the agreed condition was that open and concealed unemployment must remain at 10% failing which it would be impossible to keep inflation down as salaries would have to be increased etc.
Last time we met we had talked about Corruption - such a term is seldom applied to Nordic countries which still have a very high transparency and democracy standard. He reminds me that I had asked “Compared to what?” I was partly thinking about Les McCann - and Africa ( with the FBI finding $600 million in Nigeria V-P Atiku’s friend’s US home - according to my Yoruba professor. Still peanuts compared to the Billions that some of those guys had in the 80s in banks, the most famous example being Umaru Dikko:

These kinds of things don’t happen over here.
Perhaps the most digitalised society in the world, voting was over at 20.00 and the results declared by 22 a.m. - without any military intervention at the behest of the incumbent, or any charges of election rigging. I voted at 1600 hrs.
A good turn out was supposed to be good for the Social Democrats and especially immigrants were encouraged to shake off the apathy and do their duty, but tyvärr, for some it makes no difference whether its the Left of the Right or the Centre , as el-Hassan says in Sweden he’s just another Ni##er, well, fortunately I am not. And I don’t intend to get down to a level below zero. No need to feel sorry about that. Which doesn’t mean that I don’t have any sympathy for those who think of themselves in such terms.
As Fred Wesley and black & proud James Brown rap, you’ve got to have a lot of grip to think that you’re somebody, and you’re vote is as good as his, even if you are the son of Lucifer with horns.

Before the Elections, the Alliance’s biggest party the Moderates are advocating that Foreign Aid be slashed by 8 billion Swedish Crowns........

The big issue for this Swedish election was unemployment which is officially at about 5%

The Alliance has promised that this trend will cease (forthwith?)

About this $600 million it's an unfathomable sum for some and it's true that Okonkwo's fame spread like a bushfire in the harmattan and so too some spurious rumours take wings to fly, some African born rumours, the jungle telephone style.

Did you know that when King Goerge V died, the news spread all the way to South Africa and it arrived there before the telegram by word of mouth and the drum. It was an efficient system which had worked for centuries. Call it jungle telephone, but it did work. It certainly worked better than the telegram then.
