I want to ask the audiance about the one of the then strongest oppositions in the first republic National Convention Party led by Sheriff Mustapha Dibba.

What has happened to the Party now?

Great names of the Party who had served in Parliament, the likes of
DEMBO[byforce]BOJANG of Bakau,
GIBOU.M.JANGE of Serekunda,
FODAYBA JAMMEH of Illiasa,
FODAY MAKALO of Lower Badibu,
MAJANKO SAMUSA of Lower Badibu,
JANKO SANYANG of foni Brefet
,

Where are all these people?Ofcause FODAY MAKALO is said to have ecaped and still as said by the government in hiding, and KEMESENG JAMMEH who only won elections after the coup and into the second republic under a UDP and recently under a NADD ticket who now is campaigning for NADD[who I belief would eventually switch over to UDP when the parliamentary election comes].And also Mr EDRISSA .O.I.MANNEH who stood against OJ in Serekunda,is now a member of council of elders for the APRC.Also the likes of the late ABDOU KARAMBA GASSAMA who served as MP for Central Badibu in the second republic under a UDP banner,Mr late SEEDY JAWNEH ect.

Maybe, those deseased members would have kept the party flowing and competing had they been alife! for it is now evedent that even the party leader is now inactive!

Also DEMBO[byforce]BOJANG contested for UDP and served in the NATIONAL ASSEMBLY is seen to still campaign for UDP/NRP Alliance.

BUT ...What about the rest? Gibou,Majanko,Fodayba,Janko, ect?Where are they?Have they left politics?I know Majanko is rescently chosen as a nominated member by the Jammeh regime.

Does that make him an APRC member now?Or is APRC/NCP Alliance still in place?

And what about the veteran Politician SHERIFF.M.DIBBA?Is He out of politics for good?

OR IS THE NCP REALLY DEEEEEAAAAAD?

peace
Janyanfara.

Janyanfara,
I think this observer story will partially answer your question:
http://www.observer.gm/enews/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5679&Itemid=33&PHPSESSID=bd42b7c5a3f41cad2de2dbacf3a8fa73

However, I will venture to say that the NCP has no political weight whatsoever. Take a look at the 2001 election results and see how pathetic Sherriff Dibba polled.

http://iec.gm/artman/uploads/presidential_election_results_2001.pdf

It is true that he has a significant following in my native Badibou (Lower&Central) in 2001. I don't know how significant the support base is 5yrs later and following the humiliation he was dealt by Jemus, I will hastened to say the support that he could bring to APRC has soften a lot.

Majanko Samusa is a clown through and through. He is a bully as well and Yankuba Touray is the force behind his APRC move and subsequent nomination. Foday Makalo is a different issue altogether. He is believed to be dead by most Lower Badibou constitutents. He should have never worked for the devil incarnate, but the lord works in mysterious ways. It is a lesson so many people never learnt from.

I agree with your assertion that Kessemeng will most likely desert NADD come the next parlimentary elections. He is just protecting his parlimentary seat for now. I mean why would any sane person do otherwise?
