Neneh Macdouall Gaye Needs To Explain
According to a GRTS television news broadcast yesterday, the Secretary of State for Information, Communication and Technology, Mrs. Neneh Macdouall Gaye had a meeting with media practitioners yesterday. FOROYAA was not invited to this meeting. We were also not invited to a similar meeting earlier this year convened by the same Secretary of State. Their absence is at variance with the utterances of the Secretary of State and her Permanent Secretary. FOROYAA is fully aware that holders of public office should not exercise any form of discrimination in the execution of their duties. We will get in touch with the Secretary of State to find out why FOROYAA was not invited.

Daffeh,
You are right that it is not a right, however I don't agree with the tactics used by Gaye. Singling out Foroyaa, because their editorial is critical of the master she serves is wrong and not healthy. I am a ****** for free speech and muzzling any avenue of the free press is abhorent to me. The singling out of Foroyaa is disgraceful to say the least. They might not have a right to be invited, but the privilege should be extended nonetheless.

Bronx, I agree with you. I do not mean to condone discrimination anyway but just to make the point I made very clear.

Thanks

You are wrong my brother Nyari,

Invitation by SOS Gaye person no privilage but a right. However invitation by Nene M Gaye as a person is a privilage and I think she invited the Media in her capacity as Gambian SOS Information. In that case, all media fraternity do have a right as a media house tobe called open.Unless if it does concern party matters which Foroyaa may be seen in that light as a Media tool for NADD as Daily Observer is an AFRC Media tool. She is not an APRC Secretary of State But A Gambian Secretary of State which comprises of all the media houses.Do you think TONY BLAIR/or BUSH can hold a news confrences and say this and that media houses are not invited because they are opposition tools?

You only see these kind of things in Africa and much of these Heads of States or their ministers or Secretaries are educated in either Europe or America.Where do they pick these ideas from?

University of African powercracy?

Bravo JANYANFARA you are so sensible,as it will be only FAIR to invite all the media and not to single out Foroyaa.

This is so unprofessional of the SOS. What is our nation coming to now??????

Foroyaa under no circumstances should it be sidelined. They do not deserve this at all.

Utterly disappointed.

did the invitation state it was a private event or was it for members of the Gambian Journalists association.
If the SOS made the choice that is unprofessional but if she was only hosting it then the organisers are to blame.
