So now that Gomez has joined UDP/NRP alliance, are there any prospects for them. Has Gomez been able to get the 5000 registered voters to nominate him? Is this a ploy by APRC to make the election seem credible? Is Gomez for real or is he a politcal pawn and someone is pulling the strings.

I am just so suprise of the sudden u-turn. He was very amibale to the APRC and its programs.

Any comments please.

Kondorong,
This Gomez guy is a joke. He probably is spying for Yaya Jammeh. How the hell can this guy not know about the five-year residency requirement for a presidential aspirant? Even FJC said before the nomination that this Gomez guy was ineligible because he has not been a full time resident of The Gambia. He was very pro-APRC. And now a sudden change? I do not even know if he was able to gather the 5,000 signatures, not to mention the 200 from each administrative area of the IEC.

If his alliance is genuine, then great for ARC (this acronym is chilling - sounds like APRC). He needs to be watched.

Yes Janfara. You would be happy because Nadd doesn't joining.

I do not oppose unity but I oppose dumb union.

Gambia: Three opposition parties enlarge alliance and Henry Gomez and GPDP joining under http://allafrica.com/stories/200609010896.html

Is it a test to discredit these declartions from Jammeh as quoted below:

JAMMEH OPTIMISTIC OVER SEPTEMBER POLLS
Incumbent President, Yaya Jammeh, has told reporters shortly after his nomination on Monday that he will win the September Polls, even if a million alliances are contesting with him.
"I expect more than this from The Gambia people, because they are development oriented. Gambian people want the country to be number one and they know who can do it," Jammeh said.
He said he is a responsible person and not a self-centred man. "To show that I am a responsible person, I have my wife next to me. I am not alone and I am not a self-centred person. I am here for the people and that is why I have a wife and that shows the difference between me and the rest," he expressed. Jammeh also said that even if there will be a continental elections in Africa, not many African Presidents can contest against him."

Oh you wrong bro Nyarika,
I was there when NADD was formed and both UDP/PDOIS/PPP/NRP/NDAM joined to sign the MOD which BROUGHT NADD into existance. Its only their leadership difference which brought the split.

I love both parties but am no chamelion and can't keep changing colours thats why I kept to NADD which we all agreed to form to root Jammeh out. What ever difference UDP/NRP may have with the selection process,I think it was wrong to break away.I think they should push for a referrendum from the electorates and ask every party militant to vote who should lead NADD if it turns out majority wants ousainou, then I will follow Ousainou and this I will know from this Election if majority opposition vote Ousainou, then most oppositions want Ousainous leadership. If on the other hand majority opposition votes for Halifa then I will continue my support for Him .

I FOLLOW THE PEOPLE not a person.I think the People should have the choice of their own free will as to who leads them.

But also I KNOW Hendry Gomez is an agent of the APRC.For I have met this Man and I know what he wants. He has never approuved of Ousainou and now for him to join hands is madness for UDP/NRP.

lETS WAIT AND SEE THE END OF ALL THIS.

Peace
Janyanfara

If NADD joined UDP/NRP = STGP's Alliance for Regime Change (NADD)
and vice versa
if UDP/NRP joined NADD = STGP's Alliance for Regime Change (NADD)

Why can't you see this simple logic? It denotes no alienation of any opposition parties but to:UNITE UNDER ONE UMBRELLA AND ONE WAY TICKET TO PARADISE!? That was the spirit of reconciliation and harmonisation of the different opposition parties to unite together for strategic common political objectives.

Is this what is UDP/NRP trying to archieve according to this article under http://allafrica.com/stories/200609040081.html by Mathew K.Jallow?

I don't think cheap popularity (within tribal lines) and canversing of votes based on: "Take your message of hope to the Mandinka Kundas, the Fula Kundas, Suruwa Kundas, Jola Kundas, take it to the Njago Kundas, and the Serahules and last but not least, to my very dear beloved Serere Kundas;" can guarantee any success for UDP/NRP Alliance!

The "alarm bells" are ringing loud at Baddibu North Bank under

http://www.observer.gm/enews/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5652&Itemid=33

and

http://allafrica.com/stories/200609040087.html

However these articles are at variance with Mathew K Jallow's, to dispel the theory and proponents of the believe that UDP/NRP Alliance can bank on taking advantage on local popularity and tribalism phobias from their main communities mainly: Mandinka and Fula.

Hopefully next general elections opposition parties would re-think their stategies properly if they failed to achieve victory just couple of weeks to go.
