The Gambia Journal
“At the time, we thought the registration of NADD at the IEC was a mere mistake, but a type of mistake unbecoming of a leadership that is never done projecting its intellectualism, maturity and professionalism. Now, from hindsight and from facts that the Gambia Journal have gathered, what looked like an innocent mistake could have been a deliberate ploy by some members of the coalition leadership. We have gathered from reliable sources that UDP’s Mr. Darbo, who is a lawyer by profession, had strongly advised the NADD executive against registering the coalition at the IEC (Independent Electoral Commission) in the organizational form they had adopted.”

Response to Dorboe by Halifa Sallah
Mr. Darboe, you have mastered the chapter and verse of your profession. I do not need to quote section 60 of the Constitution to prove that the registration of NADD was connected with, dependent on and determined by the letter and spirit of the Memorandum of Understanding that all parties signed in public knowing fully well what its contents were. NADD had to be registered in order for us to contest under its ticket. This is the requirement of the Constitution and the Elections Decree. Hence the attempt to register NADD was not a constitutional or legal blunder; on the contrary, it was a constitutional and legal necessity.

Hence anyone who sees the registration of NADD as a legal and constitutional mess must equally consider his/her signing of the memorandum of understanding as a historical blunder or folly. If signing the MOU is considered a blunder where lies the integrity of its signatories?”

The Gambia Journal
“Halifa Sallah had given an ultimatum of up to August 12th for the UDP/NRP leadership to respond to its demand for the presidential candidacy. Mr. Sallah had warned that unless the UDP/NRP Alliance agrees to its demand it was going to organize the “biggest rally that the country has ever seen” to announce its candidate.”

From NADD through Halifa

“To conclude, allow us to indicate that the best way forward for any party which thinks that it has the might to remove the APRC regime is to proceed to do so and ask other parties to support its programme. However if all opposition parties are convinced that an alliance is the best instrument to remove the present regime then the NADD arrangement appears to have earned popular appeal. The flagbearer of NADD has stated in no uncertain term that he will be ready to vacate the seat in favour of anyone who can be a unifying factor of all those who are dissatisfied with the existing regime.

“The NADD Executive therefore calls on the UDP/NRP Alliance to do a critique of the NADD MOU and make recommendations on what to delete to make it acceptable to them. The NADD Executive will review any recommendation with objectivity.”

“To conclude allow me to say that history has record of the fact that we signed a Memorandum based on commitment. We registered NADD based on conviction. We lost our seats but still decided to stand under a NADD ticket based on conviction. NADD still exists because of that conviction to unite and bring about the minimum standard of democracy necessary to enable the people to take charge of their destiny and free themselves from impunity and self perpetuating rule in order to live in liberty and prosperity.

I hope we have reached a common understanding of what actually happened. If you disagree with my view I will be honoured if we meet at Father Farrell Hall to put our different positions to an audience in the interest of transparency and accountability, as we prepare the ground to challenge the APRC regime. We should clear the ground once and for all and restore the climate of respect that has always characterized our relationship. “

Supporting the UDP is your un-deniable right but does not permit you to be throwing un-founded accusations against NADD and Halifa.

NADD stands for a peaceful, prosperous and united Gambia based on intelectual sicerity and justice.

Biragoo,
How cynical are you? Anyone who do not agree with your line of thought is unpatriotic, dishonest or some other adjective comes to your petty thought process. What makes you think that you have a lock on the truth? With supporters like you nudging on PDOIS, no wonder NADD broke up.

The Gambia journal has some very savvy guys writting on its pages. They did an investigative report on the NADD fiasco and report on their findings. Obviously it didn't jive with your line that Halifa is always right and what did you do...call them dishonest. At some point you need to take a chill pill. You don't own the truth neither are you entitled to peoples opinions. Chei.

Baldeh, I agree with you that Senator Kerry’s voting records were based on issues. I believe you do not understand how the republicans have successfully interpreted and used this to portray him as a fantasist, a Walter mitty. Perhaps you have not read the smearing in the pro-bush campaign websites. Perhaps you have not listened to Senator Kerry’s ‘Bring it on speech’. In a nutshell, you just don’t know how that man lost the Whitehouse at the very dying minutes of the campaign. Portraying him as a Walter mitty has impugned his integrity. That is the link to his personality and that is what made it a factor.

Anyway you stated:
'Someone made a posting that in many instances around the world; the majority party leads an alliance. We saw it in Israel, Ukraine, and Senegal etc. In a democracy, the majority party leads and governs. However in a socialist society, the idea of many parties does not exist. Its one big lump managed through central and bureaucratic committees. This believes in sovereignty and equality, makes it very difficult for PDOIS to recognize the majority support in UDP and to break away from their core principles of equality and sovereignty of its supporters.'

You have said it all and once again, I am vindicated. They have an axe to grind with the UDP and they are determined not to let it go. That is why they refused to meet them. All other reasons advanced by that maligned tongued and grotesque Ayatollah and his firebrand talibeehs are a complete deceit. They nonsenses upon silt. UDP/NRP has refused to be held hostage by a gang of socialist and communist freaks and I salute them for that.

Top banana Amat and Yaya jallow, Amadou Taal and Darboe.
