PARLIAMENTARY CALENDAR ADOPTED

The Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Belinda Bidwell told Deputies at the National Assembly that the Executive arm of Government is already notified that the National Assembly Authority has henceforth adopted a parliamentary calendar for the remaining 2006 legislative year and for subsequent years to come. “The Parliamentary Calendar accords in advance clearly stated and defined periods of Recess, stock-taking, Reports Preparations, systematic, orderly and timely discharge of international parliamentary obligations, harmonization of members staff leaves, vacations, travels and constituency out-reaching.” She posited. Hon. Bidwell said henceforth, the National Assembly of The Gambia shall break for its summer recess from 1st September to 31st October 2006, and its New Year recess shall be from 24th December 2006 to 31st January 2007.
