The Grey-hair critics of Hon. Sallah &Nadd got it all wrong.
First of all, I was so disappointed to see some desperate critics, in a hasty mood jumping to conclusion without any common sense whatsoever, insulting Nadd and Hon. Sallah. Some went to the extent of even saying Nadd is no more. Where they get theirs, is still a mystery to those of us, as far as updates coming from the Nadd campaign are concerned.
In the past week, we all witnessed letters addressed from both Nadd, and the UDP/NRP alliances, and this move must be hailed in the highest esteem. Having said this, the two alliances must continue to extend more of those letters to agree on something tangible.
From the communication observed so far, it is certain that each of those parties need to compromise certain things, more so the NRP/UDP coalition. If the NRP/UDP coalition is interested in both a regime change and stability of a nation, they need to go an extra mile to come up with an agenda, and to define such an agenda well. One part that must not be left out is the equality of member parties. Another part is the adoption of a new constitution, since the one we have is so barbarically altered that supporting it is the same as having Jammeh go by it. Each of the two alliances must not be taken by selfishness, greed, and pompousness to think that they will win without the other. That will be a graveyard mistake. In such an agenda, one is also expected to dwell on the term limit of the presidency, and honesty this will put a check to impunity, and arrogance by any future leader. The selection of a flag bearer by two or more alliances must not be imposed on the other party, rather negotiated, and the one that wants it badly must put his stake upfront, and convince the others that he will represent the true struggle. By all honest means, the Nadd MOU guarantees all these points.
Now, to move on to the title of this piece, the grey-hair critics, in the person of none other than Mathew K Jallow. In the past, people of elderly status, especially with grey hair won a lot love and admiration. Not today when their stance on national affairs is not constructive, and hell bend on creating more confusion, chaos and division. One can easily see the biasness and grudges from Mathew as he addresses certain things. Mathew have gotten away with a lot of unethical utterances, therefore he be cautioned to take heed to national demands. Mathew is with the records for supporting the irresponsible statements that Hamat Bah uttered in the USA. Mathew is confusing STGDP with something else. I bet my life, if he claims he knows about the movement, I will be more than happy to prove him wrong. In his notions, he always said such are meant to propel Halifa and OJ. Nothing could be more erroneous than these statements.
What I would have expected from the caliber of Mathew, one who said is aspiring for the presidency is to act more mature and useful to our nation, rather than being an open rebel with no headway. I would have love to see Mathew look at the matter critically, and address both the two alliances to foster unity, instead of writing us another college essay, as he wrongly accused Hon. Sallah of writing a high school essay. What Mathew demonstrated is irresponsibility, just like his friend Hamat openly preached tribalism, inequality and hypocrisy. Mathew’s piece is totally ridiculous, and a turn-off for him, from those of us- the younger ones, whom always followed some of his writings with love and pride.
At this time of our nation, history will never forgive any that is in for creating more chaos, and legitimizing a dictatorial regime. As I wish Mathew well in his political ambitions, I am quick to caution him to earn it, or demonstrate responsibility that when his time is up, we will all support him. Therefore, going by what is on the ground so far, Mathew needs to take a break and get a life. Mathew also needs to be sensitized about Nadd, and STGDP projects, as he ignorantly demonstrated that he don’t have an idea of what it is.
In my last words, Mathew one of the external youth wing members of the NRP should tell the NRP boldly to demonstrate love for our citizens, and listen to the masses who are oppressed daily. Failure to do sure is the same as legitimizing Jammeh’s oppressive regime.
Mr. Editor, Thanks for the space.
