Saying a Microsoft desktop OS will be late is like saying Tom Cruise will say something stupid or do something stupid…er like taking a swipe at people on antidepressants or stumping on Oprah’s couch -- it's a forgone conclusion. At last week's financial analysts meeting, Microsoft was so equivocal about Vista delivery, I'm wondering if it will ever arrive. Exec Kevin Johnson got Wall Street heads spinning by saying, "We will ship Windows Vista when it is available." That’s Microsoft for you folks…read the story below:

Well is taking them a while to come out with it, the last i heard was that it was supposed to come out this fall. Apparently Microsoft engineers thinks vista OS is the best, cause last week they invited all the hackers to hack into vista to test the security on the OS. I did used Windows Beta 2 B 5384, and i messsed around with the registry to make it look like XP. If i can do that imagine a serious hacker with some time on his would do.

JT,
Most security professionals are not worried about what a user on his own accord or volition wants to do to their system. Au contraire what they decry is what someone else with malicious intent could do to a system because the OS is more like a swiss cheese. Reports emanating from the black hat (hackers) conference you alluded to is giving microsoft a thumbs up on Vista's security. Will it (Vista) ship on time...that is another story. Personally,I prefer they delay the launch and get the security rightthan ship it fraught with security issues.

Same here Ous, i rather have them delay the launching of it, from what I heard in the industry it still have couple flaws in it. but for serious user like me and you let get ready for a major upgrade cause that thing (VIsta)is resource hungry, it seem like microsoft is leaning toward linux with the interface that i seen. by the way i love reading your blogs bout the industry, any idea on how to pass my MSCE, i took it couple weeks ago and i fail it, will appreciate all the help i can get from u.

JT,
What module of the MCSE exam did you fail? I took my MCSE six years ago and I am not sure if the track is the same. It used to be seven exams. Four core and three electives.I don't know if this is still the case. But what ever the case may be, let me know whether it is a core exam you got stuck on or one of the electives and what I can do to help a brother out.

Jt,
The exam must have changed drastically since I took it.Emphasis was never on customer service skills when I took it. The exams were more on systems and network competency.
