As part of its governance support programme, the EU have allocated €2.47 million to help strengtheing Non-State Actors in The Gambia. The programme sets out to equip NSAs with the capacity,the tools and the opportunity to influence,support and monitor the Government’s performance, and to strengthen their capacities, enabling them to play a more active and effective role in public life and in the development process of the country.
Result Include;
-Organisational management and fundraising of NSAs improved; -The successful organisation of a seminar organised by NGO network TANGO on civil-military relations, leading to a clearer understanding of roles and responsibilities which helped to build a bridge between NSAs and the Government. - Four orchards and six woodlots were established in Bwiam/Jarra District to benefit 4.689 people. Approximately 52% of beneficiaries were rural women, who now have increased access to rice fields leading to increased production.
-Dialogue sessions, thematic groupings and stakeholder meetings for NSAs to enhance their cooperation and better understand the functioning of umbrella networks - Enhanced access to and sharing of information, particularly between NSAs and the media.
The funding brings EU's governance support in The Gambia to almost 13Million Euros.
Thanks

"Non-State Actors" what on earth does this mean Nyarikangbanna ? presumably nothing at all to do with films or theatre Even for those who have English as their first language it's convoluted gobbledegook.*

Toubab, to put it in plain english,Non-State Actors is a eurocratic term for civil society groups and Non-governmental Organisations. Its hard to understand the English spoken by eurocrats sometimes.
The acronym NSA stands for Non-State Actors.
Thanks |
