I disagree. It is very important that we dont forget and show respect to the dead. But times do move on. Germany and uk are now both in eu. Politics changes, but we shouldnt forget the awful thngs man is capable of.
The rituals and formalities are all politics Bev, don't you agree that GLOBAL OR WORLD PEACE cannot be achiceiveD with those elite formailities going on and on as political anniversaries in the wrong policy makers and organisers. On World war II Hitler and the Germans are accused of wrongs, Autzwich Jews genocide and unforgiveness against the Germans, 9/11 and 7/7 politics of religion and especially Islamic extremism or fanatism, terrorism and counter terrorism are highlighted on and on till doomsday. Can't we cultivate those events as "PLANTS NORTURED TO GERMINATE ON PEACE LAND" or in other words hand them over to WORLD PEACE FORA to organise PEACE rallys, shows, Global TV network events, debates, sports, music and arts, tributes and prayers for the victims and cmpaign FOR NEVER AGAIN! THINK ABOUT THAT |

Coming to that Nigerian Lady's sombre remarks. I think she deserves a Nobel Peace award!
All tragedic events including crime against humanity should be globalised like "Human Rights Day" and ploted across the globe where they occur as a special day to commemorate all of them. I would proposed "World Peace Garden of Aden day". On that day I would proposed that certain tragedies or crimes against humanity of global nature or local nature would be considered "olive branches" and the Globe represents "Garden of Aden" for e.g 9/11 Olive Branch would be ploted in New York on thhe Globe, 7/7 olive branch ploted on the Globe, etc with speciual events globalise and covered twenty four hours for sensitisation, peace and reconciliation to heal the world. You are free to develope this proposal or forward alternatives |

Im sure you heard of this lady, but I thought I would share her story with her, how she has encouraged tree planting in Kenya to reduce the dessertification
Pls read below Wangari Maathai (I wish I could have her photo as my avatar!) How inspiring her story... it only takes one person to start with...
