This I found interesting, Dr Makie Taal,a man with the approperate knowledge and credentials to do the job: Snippet.
"He has a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry, MSc in Molecular Pathology and Toxicology, PhD in Molecular and Structural Biology with emphasis on development of new-generation antibiotics to combat the global problem of antibiotic resistance. He had worked in various healthcare institutions in UK and his last assignment before he returned home was at the Centre for Emergency Response and Preparedness under the Health Protection Agency in UK as a Senior Healthcare Scientist (Project Leader)."
The question is will he have sufficient resources available to him in order to be able to do his job well together with well trained workers employed by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare,a sort out of both problems MUST be his first priority, can he be an effective administrator as well as a man with excellent qualifications as an expert ? If he can and is able to work within the Gambian system of things, then services and delivery to the average Gambian of these services is a possibility. I wish him the best of luck in this very difficult task.
