My Gambian husband has now lived in the UK for almost 2 years & will soon be applying for his indefinate right to remain visa. I was just wondering if anyone has been through this procedure and how long the visa took to be completed? Did you use the postal service or the premium 1 day service? My husband is worried that if he uses the postal application service it will take ages & may affect his job if it takes longer than 3 months, because his previous visa will of expired. But the premium service is £400 more & im not sure it will be worth it! Any info would be a great help!

Molly, you need to read the guidance notes thoroughly, 'your status while your application is being considered' states your immigration status, including permission to work, will continue until your application is decided.
Once you have submitted & UK Border Agency have received you will be given a reference number.
You have been sent an e mail via bantaba. |

| Thanks for the advice. We have already read the guidance notes which say he would still be entitled to work here whilst his visa is sorted, even if his other visa expires. But i would like to know first hand experiences on the length of time the applications take & any problems encountered. What the uk visa website says isnt always what happens in reality! It doesnt mention the problems people encounter or how long individual cases take. |

As usual with matters dealt with by administrations,at all levels in the UK decisions are the last thing they want to make and if you can put off making a binding decision until someone else makes it for you then so much the better,I shouldn't be surprised if the decision in your husband's case takes a long time.
