"Why do politicians think that all Muslims vote the same way?"

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/the-northerner/2012/may/01/respect-george-galloway-bradford-labour-local-elections

Bradford's 'Muslim vote', until the arrival of Galloway, was organised around an ancient clan system whereby families voted en bloc for candidates selected through baraderi – ties of kinship, place and understanding. The Muslim community is a minority in the city despite widespread misconceptions elsewhere. An island community, they clung together in the face of prejudice, and because the areas in which they settled were all they could afford.

Strong communities formed, bound by shared faith and cultural practices which were tolerated but never fully accepted in more affluent white areas. Khan has spoken of the fact that Pakistan may be his home, but for his children it's different. Bradford is their home and clan loyalty established thousands of miles away makes no sense in a western democracy.

The world would be a poorer place if it was peopled by children whose parents risked nothing in the cause of social justice, for fear of personal loss. (Joe Slovo - African revolutionary)

Sab,"Strong communities formed, bound by shared faith and cultural practices which were tolerated but never fully accepted in more affluent white areas" here again, its bashing the indigenous communities,it's their problem that the above has happened,it is true that in the past decades Britain has wanted immigrants to come and perform tasks that the indigenous communities had not wished to do,the immigrants had come happily ,why?,because life in Britian was MUCH MUCH better than in their home countries and the fact that if people had problems they were dealt with by government help,a benefit that does not occur in their countries, those are the reasons why they came, the immigrants have RARELY wanted to integrate and have taken over areas and made them replicas of their own homeland,a place where "outsiders "are not always welcome, politicians have supported this settlement (think of all those voters !)and given many more opportunities to immigrants by positive discrimination, this has annoyed the indigenous communities, who because of social engineering by politicians are all considered raciest, bigots, and troublemakers, true SOME are but the majority are not, fearing that they will be branded if they freely express their feelings, which are at odds with the expertly engineered policies of the administration.
Integration with the locals is essential if you have chosen to live in another country with a culture that differs from your homeland..

"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.

Kobo, there are many multi cultural areas of Britain where people live happily along side each other. There are, however, pockets of some cities where the Pakistani Muslim community lives ALONGSIDE the local community rather than integrating.

What I denounced is against DANGEROUS RACIST SWEEPING STATEMENTS (AND STEREOTYPE MENTALITY) from your comments by you not only targeting Pakistani Muslims but also Scots; which destroys fabric of British society? Religion, race and colour should be out of British politics

Are you seriously comparing me to Breivik? That would be seriously insulting if it wasn't so ridiculous.

Yes, like Breivik in political terms you advocating and advancing same cause 100% extremism with that protest on; "ANTI-MUSLIMS AND ANTI-MULTICULTURALISM" AGAINST RESPECT PARTY'S VICTORY

What about you insulting many like Amir Khan "proud to be a Muslim" British(Pakistani), generations of British Muslims (& Scots) and trying to encourage discrimination with your tirades on Respect party's victory

Respect party is hurting labour and they should blame themselves; especially Tony Blair but not Galloway who was expelled (in 2003) from the party for standing firm on anti-war and warning Labour party leader on dangers of war; particularly Iraq occupation sold on lies of WMD

In contrast Tory benefits from Boris Johnson's charisma winning London Mayor who "was sacked from the Conservative front bench back in 2004 for allegation in lying about a four-year affair with society hostess Petronella Wyatt, which had led to her having an abortion. Voters clearly forgave him for the incident," recalled back to become Mayor of London and won another term again

Personality counts but politics is about the policies, tactics and srtategies

I am PRO multiculturalism. I am from Leicester, which has a good history of race relations.
My daughter is married to an Indian man, with my blessing. His family are Hindu's, though he is an atheist.

My issue is with a particular brand of Muslim culture, which is based on bringing Pakistani culture to the UK and making no attempt to integrate. Many of these people SUPPORT the extreme events such as 9/11. I am NOT a racist, but I am anti this particular brand of Islam and people who live in the UK, but are anti British.

gambiabev. I HAVE DEALT WITH YOUR DISTURBING IRRATIONAL INFLAMMATORY COMMENTS ALREADY AND DONE WITH IT

TRY TO BE WISER ON CO-EXISTENCE, NOT TO PROPAGATE RACISM, ANY FORM OF DISCRIMINATION, AVOID DANGERS OF STEREOTYPING ESPECIALLY STEREOTYPING MUSLIMS

Gambian Muslims and Pakistani Muslims are so far apart and different that they almost seem to follow two different religions. I don't stereotype ALL Muslims. I am interested in all cultures and all religions.
