U.S. Suspends the Gambia from key development fund By Sue Pleming
WASHINGTON, June 16 (Reuters) - The United States on Friday suspended Gambia from a key U.S. development fund because of concerns about a slide in democracy and the slow pace of economic reform in the tiny West African country.
The Millennium Challenge Corporation announced Gambia's suspension, citing a pattern of behavior inconsistent with the MCC's selection criterion after Gambia was chosen last November as eligible for funds. A decision had not yet been made about how much money to grant Gambia.
The MCC is a U.S. development fund which is dedicated to poor nations that undertake political and economic reforms.

Kons, thanks. and you are the darling of real life experience and living your truth.
You remind me in many ways of some Malian musicians like Babacar Traore, or Ali Farka who sing their truths, their knowledge, their life experiences in song.
Pls keep up your contributions/posts on Bantaba/ I want to say yes, your are right about the 1980's, things have really changed in Senegambia since then, unfortunately sometimes not for the best but lets not give up hope. |

And Kons I'm learning alot from you, Njucks, Koba, especially the 1981 episode with Kukoi, early 1960's, etc and Mandinka proverbs you share at least I think they are Mandinka? Some make me laugh out loud. Keep it up.
If we could all treat each other with respect and dignity, what a wonderful world this could be. We are all interconnected..and interdependent on each other. |
