U.S Congress woman Betty McCollum welcomes OJ; Soccer game ended 4-2
The fundraising event for Nadd organized by the Local STGDP in Minnesota went very successful this afternoon, reliable sources revealed to Gainako Staffers.
The day accompanied with a well attended soccer game and barbeque is one typical of Gambian unity and worth emulation if unity and democracy is to flourish in the tiny West African Country, the Gambia.
The game that kicked off at noon was specially graced by OJ, one of the current executive members of Nadd, also a former minister of Agriculture in the then Jawara administration. The game played between the old-hands and new-hands ended 4-2, with the old-hands teaching a bitter lesson to the younger ones.
After the kick off administered by OJ, he was escorted to honor an invitation by U.S Congress Woman, Betty McCollum. It is well remembered that Congress woman Betty McCollum wrote to Secretary of state Condoleezza Rice and U.S President George W Bush, in a bid to warn Jammeh to stay his hands off the opposition during the arrest of Hon. Sallah, OJ and Bah months ago. OJ described his meeting with the congress woman very successful.
“She received us very positive. Betty is committed to bringing political sanity in a lot of African countries, namely Benin.”, asserted OJ.
In another revelation to our Gainako editorial, OJ said his discussion with the Congress woman is to solicit support from the United States to pressurize the Jammeh tyrannical administration to stop the mass violation of human rights, and to make sure the forthcoming presidential election is fairly contested. He also stressed the need for the private media practitioners to be free to carry on with their societal roles, and deeply expressed worry about the too many constitutional amendments instituted by the Jammeh administration.
According to the local committee members of the pro democracy organization, all the funds derived from the events will be used for Nadd’s affairs. The program continues tonight with OJ as a special guest speaker.
