While Karl Marx called religion 'opium of the people' long after Marx, religion in whatever form is still around.
Research is no enough yardstick to PREDICT what happens to organised religion in next generation or so. Of course I'm no religious fanatic but no doubt take keen interest in the world around me.
Yes. I do believe it will vanish eventually as people move further and further way from it. I believe the rate and speed of the secularism will determine how fast that happens. It is a very scary thing indeed for those who believe in religion, what ever form it may be.
