Press Release: PDOIS’ SECRETARY GENERAL ISSUES PUBLIC NOTICE
This is to inform all PDOIS members, supporters and sympathisers that they have every right to move about the country freely, meet people at their homes, farms, vous, and other chatting places and engage them in discussion on the vision the party for the country. You are only required to have a permit if you want to use an instrument like a public address system to hold a meeting in a public place. Your constitutional rights as a sovereign Gambian are guaranteed by the constitution under Section 25 subsection (1) paragraphs (a) and (d) which stipulate that every person shall have the right to freedom of speech and expression and freedom to assemble peaceably.
The law states categorically that political parties may be established to participate in the shaping of the political will of the people, to disseminate information of political ideas and on political, economic and social programmes of a National Character, and to sponsor candidates for public elections. The number of political parties shall not be limited by law and every citizen of the Gambia shall have the right freely to choose whether or not he or she will become a member of a political party and which party he or she will support. Be alerted that APRC is working underground to consolidate its grip on power. We must not be naive to think that we could wait until the day for election is declared to start work and expect to get a different electoral outcome which favours the opposition. We are free to work and we should work harder than the APRC to overcome them. Make sure that you do not antagonize any voter in your sensitisation campaigns since they are the very people whom we need to mobilise. Avoid those who are interested in quarrels and insults. Stick to the issues we want to raise with the people. Respect is not a gift. It is earned. If PDOIS is to get respect it must be ready to earn it. I will never be found wanting in doing whatever is necessary to ensure that PDOIS in particular and the Opposition in general earn the respect to be an alternative. I will take sole responsibility for every cassette I issue and every statement that is published. Public sensitisation to combat the call for a monarchy is a right and I am solely responsible for any task I assign any one to do in the name of PDOIS as agreed with me. I wish to take this opportunity to call on all the Governors, the District Chiefs, the Village Heads and the law enforcement agents to respect and uphold the letter and spirit of the Constitution and the laws of the land and create no obstacle to our sensitisation campaigns. We are not deprived of a permit. We will apply for it when we want to hold rallies. Sensitisation campaigns without using public address systems do not require permits and we do not want our campaign teams to be interrupted. They have been trained and are bound by ethical codes of conduct.
Long Live PDOIS! Long Live the Republic!

Halifa picked on a very relevant issue of critical nature. I am not sure which part of the desert sand the line is being drawn. While any of the other political parties are made to believe and conditioned by hostile armed bandit laws to seek permission and abide by rules, AFPRC campaign is 365 degres 24/7.
Can anyone say which day of the week, hour of day that AFPRC is not on campaign? That is one way they keep coming up with the bogus rogue, fraudulent election numbers.
Yaya Jammeh is a ruthless thief and is out to steal bare national TIME resources.
Sorry Halifa, your message may be useful and relevant but rather too late. The die is already cast on the 2011 elections. This message was needed 16 years ago or if anything, 5 years back. |

nyari you can continue to call halifa sallah what ever you like its ok, but you have to understand pdois is not about halifa or sidia. this is a political party with bravehearth members that stand for one and other unlike the udp in the cased of femi peters. now instead of been busy campaigning and telling your leader ousainou (cowardice ) darboe to start getting his messages harder to the dictator, nor you are busy calling others leaders names. We love halifa sallah because of his dedication towards the partys ideas. Daroe climbed a high fence of the embassy that he run to and the funniest thing is i know the guy that give him a helping hand. he runnaway and hide while his own supporters are busy fighting to survive. nyari you and your yellow boys family members should start getting serious and stop the fight against your own udp member falai and freedoomnewspaper. nyari darboe , yahya darboe, ousainou darboe and all you tribal family gang members should plan to resign so people can believed you and udp. |

Introduction to PDOIS CULTISM
- Do not boycott election. Election is the platform for political parties to present their solutions. Boycotting election is opposite of basic principle of democracy: To contest. Unlike some other parties, for example, UDP. - Do not seek refugee in another country. Trust your nation. Stand firm. Take risk in the name of democracy, freedom and human rights. Unlike some other parties, for example, UDP. - Understand what the law of political campaign. Do not break the law when you want to use an instrument like a public address system to hold a meeting in a public place. Unlike some other parties, for example, UDP. - If you do not know or you are confused about what to do, do opposite of what UDP does, then you will be fine. |
diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

YOU ARE THE ATTENTION SEEKER, ALWAYS ARROGANT AND PETTY AS UDP MILITANT (UDP-UK) WE REMIND YOU POLITICS OF CONFRONTATION AND PETTINESS ARE NOT PDOIS IDEALS
THIS LINE IS ENOUGH TO SAVE FEMI PETERS FROM SERVING A JAIL TERM;
"I wish to take this opportunity to call on all the Governors, the District Chiefs, the Village Heads and the law enforcement agents to respect and uphold the letter and spirit of the Constitution and the laws of the land and create no obstacle to our sensitisation campaigns. They have been trained and are bound by ethical codes of conduct." Halifa Sallah/PDOIS
THAT'S WHY CODE OF CONDUCT IN QUESTION BY YOURSELF IS OPERATIVE & OPERATIONAL INCLUDING OTHER SITUATIONS! THESE ACTIONS DEMONSTRATES PDOIS DYNAMISM TO INITIATE RESOLUTIONS & REMEDIES FOR ANY GIVEN POLITICAL ACTIVITY OR SITUATION!
IT IS COWARDS LIKE YOU WHO DON'T CARE ABOUT PLIGHT OF GAMBIANS AND COMFY TO PEDDLE CRUDE IDEAS THAT DISRUPTS ANY MASS MOBILISATION CAMPAIGN AWARENESS |

PDOIS REALISED THE HOSTILE POLITICAL ATMOSPHERE AND THEY ARE READY TO EXECUTE CIVIL DUTY, FIGHT & DIE FOR CIVIL LIBERTY TO FORWARD THE GAMBIA OUR HOMELAND! ALL CITIZENS SHOULD RALLY TOGETHER AND FIGHT FOR THEIR RIGHTS. AND PDOIS IS ALREADY AT THE FOREFRONT; NO MATTER WHAT
DO YOU WANT THEM TO BOYCOTT THE ELECTIONS OR TO ALWAYS OSTRACIZED THEM |

Kobo,
The comment is not directed at Halifa or PDOIS. It is generic for ALL other political parties in Gambia. While AFPRC plays dirty politics 365/ 24/7, other parties are playing THE RULES that never exist.
Of course no other party is affected by this rule of the game affair than UDP.
In short, the ball bounces in the open field of ALL other political parties. Again, the MESSAGE is late whether it is coming from Halifa, Darbo, Hamat, Sidia, Gomez or even Kobo. Time sensitivity is everything in this game. |

Kobo,
Far from condemnation, these are clear-cut objective observations. To contain AFPRC, Gambian opposition has to stop playing RULES that don't exist. Does that mean encouraging anarchy? Oh no! What it is means is that Yaya Jammeh who does not beleive in and totally defiance of ORDER could not preach or condition any good person to OBEY rules that never exist.
In short, the other Gambian political parties have to carry on without observing rules that Yaya talks about while flatly breaking the same non-existent rules.
Other parties have to recognise that there are no rules in place. The biggest error on the part of ALL other political parties in Gambia is having to believe and staying to play by rules that never exist. By that cunning scheme, Yaya is hiding behind the status quo and bleeding the nation.
It is up to Yaya making unsound demands. It is down to the people of Gambia acting on Yaya's misguided commands.
Does this lead to any way out of the quagmire, Kobo? Please observe that this post is not suggesting for a bit of OPPOSITION UNITY. It is simply calling for collective defiance AGAINST rules that never exist.
Playing the rules for 16 years is what has resulted to collective failure on the part of parties (political structures) and party membership( the constituted big body). |

DEFIANCE IS WHAT LANDED FEMI PETER'S INTO JAIL. DEFIANCE, STUBBORN RESISTANCE AND COUNTER VIOLENT RESOLUTIONS ARE HOSTILE, DANGEROUS AND NOT FEASIBLE NOW; TOWARDS 2011 ARE YOU GOING TO LEAD AND BE A VISIBLE LEADER ON THE FIRING LINE
A REVOLUTION MUST GAINED TIMELY MOMENTUM! ALSO DEFIANCE AND VIOLENT RESISTANCE MUST COME FROM A HIGHLY ORGANISED MASS OPPOSITION FORCE! ALL OPPONENTS SHOULD BE READY TO FIGHT TOGETHER FOR A NATIONAL CAUSE!! THAT'S NOT HAPPENING AND PDOIS IS FIGHTING A BATTLE WITH OWN INITIATIVES AND RESOURCES
THE PRESS RELEASE HAS CLEAR-CUT OBJECTIVE THAT WILL SERVE ITS PURPOSE AND BE EFFECTIVE; IN DUE COURSE!

Nyari, I am a PDOIS sympathizer. However, I have known Halifa before PDOIS was founded.
I first heard about Halifa on Radio Gambia when he usued to do the program, "Magi Alek" with Alhagi Hassan. Shortly thereafter I attended a symposium organized by the students of Gambia High School, under the guidance of Sam Sarr who was then a science teacher at the school. In this symposium Halifa was a panelist among other notable Gambians, and if I recall a Mr. James Abraham who was then the principal of Latrikunda Junior Secondary School, and one Dr. Almeida were also panelist. The topic of the symposium was: "Maintaining Moral Standards as a Youth".
When it came to questions and answers from the floor, I remember raising my hand up and when given the floor, said certain things which could have put me in trouble. With tact and diplomacy, Halifa rose up and mitigate a situation which otherwise would have been troublesome. In fact, I went home fearing the worst. After the symposium, the man came up to me and whispered: I will talk to you. This was how my relationship with Halifa started.
Afterwards I started to visit Halifa at his compound in Serrekunda near the market. My visits became frequent, and one day he alerted me to the fact that there might be people, who were watching the comings and goings of those coming to see him. He counsel me to use my own judgment, and decide on my own volition, if I should still want to come and see him. All these happened before the emergence of PDOIS.
Why am I telling you all this? May be you don't know all the circumstances that surrounded the life of this illustrious Gambian.
You seem to underestimate the potential and capacity of the man, who tacitly and brilliantly have been guiding the intellectual development, and political orientation of a generation of Gambians. What Halifa is doing, and what he has been able to build transcends Halifa Sallah. It is deliberate; it is purposeful and it has an objective.
And I can tell you without any fear of exaggeration, that PDOIS has cultivated a culture, with its members, supporters and sympathizers, that inculcates the development of a value system that promotes tolerance, respect, individual freedoms and liberties, national cohesion, and a desire for all of us to live in a peaceful and prosperous country that we can proudly call home.
With respect to PDOIS and all its flaws, one has to give recognition to the fact that they have been able to survive for all these years, whereas all the other political parties or political groupings has either whittle out of relevancy or die a natural death.
And the reason for this is that the founders of the party have done a thorough research of political formations in the Gambia, and build a party that is rooted on principles, objectivity and a desirable goal to which most Gambians can share their affinity with.
What they have been able to achieve will surely transcend them, and other people can always build on their legacy, draw from the enormous intellectual resources thay have made available, and continue to pursue the aims and aspirations of the people.

RELATED ISSUES WITH MAAFANTA.COM Pa Samba Jow , PDOIS, 8 Quick Questions UNDER http://www.maafanta.com/PaSambaJowPdoisMaafantaquickquestions.html
RELEVANT QUOTES:"....most of those who chose to stay away are those who question the bravery and wherewithal of the opposition leaders on the ground. This attitude leads me to call on those who characterize the opposition on the ground as inept and useless, to pack their things and go back to the Gambia and lead the struggle. I think it is quite hypocritical for one to sit thousands of miles away with the comfort of a laptop and throw diatribes at those who are doing their best according to their circumstances, yet when one is called upon to do a fraction of what one is demanding from the opposition leaders, one is nowhere to be found."
"Coming to the Gambia Neither Ousainou nor Halifa is out of touch with the electorate. Darboe has been one of the leading defenders of human rights in the Country, and has been representing ordinary Gambians, listening to and understanding their concerns. He conducts all his campaigns in the local languages mostly in madinka and wollof both of which he speaks fluently, he is also surrounded by very eloquent and seasoned politicians. The same can be said about Halifa, who for the past thirty-two years since returning to the Gambia, working at the social welfare office, working with the society for the blind to the formation of the People’e Democratic Organization For Independence and Socialism – PDOIS, has been and continues to work directly with people, helping them solve their problems and fight their battles. So here, one can see that these personalities are really in touch with the people they hope to one day lead. What one can question is their tactics and not their understanding of the Gambian electorate and what ails our nation." Pa Samba Jow PDOIS
