Terangba, your suggestions are very admirable and stand a chance of producing a better national discourse. However, dealing with the APRC at times is akin to a situation where someone is pissing on your leg and telling you it is raining outside.

If we utilize some of your approaches, it will surely delude the APRC into thinking that no dialogue is worth having with "wimps."

We as Gambians need to show the Jammeh government that we can only achieve the best for our nation if he recognizes the need for a moral component to his governance which means he should be open to dissent and entertain the idea that his time in power can and will come to a close.

PDOIS subscribes to:
  • " We therefore call on all Gambians to be ready to make this small Nation in 2011 an example for others to follow. We could only do so if each of us take himself or herself as a sovereign person who is always ready to select a government that will promote the civil political, economic, social and cultural rights of all sovereign Gambians. The voter’s card is power which speaks. Those who sell it have sold themselves to slavery and become powerless and voiceless. Those who give it away become subjects. Those who entrust it to those they monitor and control to serve them will have their liberty, dignity and prosperity guaranteed. This is the task before all sovereign Gambians, Africans and Humanity at large. The future of the country is in our sovereign Hands. Time will tell what type of life we wish for our children and our children’s children."

Terangba (big axe).

This is a great topic, and I encourage you to keep your pen sharp. With the political temperature getting very volatile soon, you can expect to take some hard shots in propagating this positive message. Be the non-politician I am, sometimes my mind and heart gladdens over the level of maturity in discussions, and sometimes I am totally taken aback. I meant to add my 10 cents much earlier, but something hit me hard. Please visit the archives, under the UGAMA topics if time favors you.

If you should write any message for distribution on this and any other topic, please feel free to share with Gainako as well.

Kind Regards & thanks,
Yero.
