More than a hundred compounds situated at Tujereng Farakunku, Kombo South are currently facing imminent risk of demolition, following a ruling by the ex-District Tribunal Chief Mr. Sheriff M.L. Janneh in favour of Karamo Saikou Jatta.

The legal battle involves Jabang Kunda, Baduma Kabilo and one Karamo Saikou Jatta of Tujereng village. Following a ruling delivered by the ex-District Tribunal, the families of Jabang Kunda and Baduma Kabilo are warned to refrain from interfering or doing any construction activity on the said land.

Speaking to The Point, Omar Jabang, from Jabang Kunda ward in Tujereng, said they have since the beginning of the land dispute followed due legal process, saying after the ruling by the District Tribunal Court, which went in favour of Mr. Karamo Saikou Jatta, both the two wards (Jabang Kunda and Baduma) were warned to desist from interfering on the said land.

The disputed land, he said, was then sold to individuals whom he stated have since move to settle in the area with their families for more than 15 years.

“It was last Monday 25th March 2019 when officials from the Sheriff Division and Physical Planning and their demolition machine were seen on the said land about to embark on their demolition exercise” he added.

Another resident, Mariama Jallow told The Point that the land they were occupying was sold to them by the very person who now wants to demolish their compounds without giving any clear reason.

“We have no other option but to wait and see what is next, this is because we have been occupying the area for more than 16 to 17 years now with our families. So where do you expect us to move after spending all our financial resources and time to the comfort of our families,” she lamented.

"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.
