Environmental activist Dr Amadou Janneh and five other residents of the southern Kombo coastal town of Gunjur were yesterday freed by the Brikama magistrates court.
Dr Janneh together with Alhagie Bojang, Omar Darboe, Ousman Sanneh, Lamin Jassey and Foday Karl Darboe were acquitted and discharged after the presiding magistrate declared a “no case” to answer verdict.
Dr Janneh, a long time resident of the United States, and the others, were arrested and charged with removing the toxic waste disposal pipeline of the Chinese-owned Golden Lead fishmeal processing plant located by the Gunjur’s Atlantic coastline.
The Gunjur 6 were represented pro bono by the ace lawyer, Lamin J Darboe, himself a native of Gunjur.

"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.
