It would appear that alternatives have not been suggested by the Gambian administration. I wonder how the ban is going to enforced,by the Police,by the Councils ? There has been no statement on this as far as I know, confusion will reign that's certain.
The National Environment Agency (NEA) have been given the enforcement task, but appear to be just confiscating plastic bags and not taking those breaking the ban to court, for the courts to decide on how seriously they view this breach of the law by the level of fine they would impose after a guilty plea or a finding of guilt by the magistrate or judge at court,it is mystifying that the administration has failed to suggest an alternative container that could be used by those vendors of drinking water and food items, who are mostly poor people trying to work to make a living.
