In accordance with Article 13 of the rules of procedure of the ECOWAS parliament, five Gambian parliamentarians are to participate in the upcoming ECOWAS extraordinary session, scheduled to take place from 2nd-7th February 2015 in Abuja, Nigeria.

The Assembly members to take part in the sub-regional body’s session are: Hon. Ablie Suku Singhateh of Lower Badibu, Hon. Lamin Jadama of Niamina West, Hon. In a Daily Observer interview, the leader of The Gambian delegation to the ECOWAS parliament, Hon. Hon. Singhateh, who doubles as the APRC desk officer for North Bank Region and the president of the Economic Policy at the ECOWAS Parliament, said the specific agenda of the extraordinary session is the adoption of the ‘Supplementary Act relating to the Enhancement of the Powers of ECOWAS Parliament’ by the authority of heads of state and government and the way forward.

He said the meeting of the Bureau and the conference of Bureau, which will take place on 29th January 2015 and 30th-31st February 2015 respectively, would precede the session.

Hon. Singhateh disclosed that during the recently concluded summit of the Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, the heads of state and government adopted the Supplementary Act relating to Enhancement of the Powers of the ECOWAS Parliament upon the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.
