I lost an article by Sheikh Hamidu Kane, where he discourses Kurukang-fuga, as the constitution of Sungjata Keita.
I will try to find it.

New learning for me. I have noticed the symbols used in this link and imagine they form an alphabet. Momodou or Janko, have you any information on that ?

Yes, the nīko alphabet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N'ko) used for writting mandinka.
The http://www.mandinka.org in Gambia use a similar alphabet
