This seems a little odd,the fine was fair but if you have no money to pay and there is an alternative of prison where you may get minimal rations instead of nothing as you do at present prison may seem a better option,I wonder if the arresting offices was being kind and helping a starving man ? I hope so,its a thought that he could do something for his fellow man in this holy month.
D200 fine for convict Africa » Gambia Monday, August 23, 2010 One Momodou Malang was recently convicted and sentenced by Magistrate Surahata Danso of the Bundung Magistrates Court.
He was found guilty of rages and vagabond contrary to Section 167 (3) of the Criminal Code Cap 10 Volume III laws of The Gambia 1990. According to the particulars of offence the convict, on the 5th of August 2010 between the hours of 01:30am to 02:00am at Tipper Garage in Bakoteh, was found with no visible means and cannot give good account of himself, there by committed an offence. He pleaded guilty to the charge.
In his plea of mitigation, the convict told the court that he is a first time offender and has never been brought to the law courts. He was sentenced to pay a fine of D200 in default to serve one month#146;s imprisonment.
